🎣🍂 AUTUMN = PRIME CASTER TIME 🍂🎣
As the water starts to cool, casters really begin to come into their own.
They’re a brilliant autumn bait for everything from roach, skimmers and perch to F1s, carp and bream, giving fish a small, natural-looking food item that can keep them confidently feeding without piling loads of heavy bait into the swim.
One of the big advantages over live maggots on softer bottoms is that casters don’t wriggle down into the silt, so more of your feed stays where the fish can actually find it. 👌
They’re incredibly versatile too:
✅ Feed them on their own
✅ Loose feed little and often
✅ Mix with h**p for a classic combination
✅ Add them to chopped worm for a cracking autumn mix
✅ Use them when pellets and heavier baits aren’t getting the response you want
As temperatures fall and fish become a little more cautious, that change of texture, colour and presentation can sometimes be exactly what gets the bites coming again.
And with casters, freshness matters — good casters should be firm, glossy and full of colour, from pale creams and golds through to those lovely rich browns.
