🙋‍♀️For any parent/teacher unaware of author, Hannah Gold. I would recommend Hannah as one of the top 3 children’s fiction authors for age 9+. Her books are best sellers in The Snug for all the right reasons.

♥️ The children do the reviews. It is the children who report time and again that what the love is the depth and range of the adventure and characters in Hannah’s books.

🤗 We have 50+ children come through our Snug bookclubs. It is my pleasure to have this opportunity to build a rapport with every child. I hear and discuss their thoughts over the years about all their books. Many have remarked on the well-drawn characters they invest in, the unusual adventures that take place in interesting locations.

🏆Most give a score of 9/10 or above. It is for this reason I am compelled to promote Hannah’s post for the benefit of a wider pool of children to enjoy these books.

😊 Welcome back Tim… a happy customer collecting his long desired title, The Stretcher Bearer, by Charles Horton.

An ardent history buff and follower of WW1 podcasts. Tim wanted to know more about the thousands of men who worked in the trenches, suffering the huge hardships of which we know, but without the protection of a weapon. This is the biography Tim had been looking for.

“The Stretcher Bearer!-Fighting for Life”, by Charles Horton.

Charles, like many thousands like him, chose this difficult and dangerous work to support his fellow man during WW1. Charles endured the horrors of Passchendaele, Ypres and the Somme, fighting the elements to get the injured soldiers to the safety of field hospitals.

🤗 Another great young writer’s club this evening!

🥞 After firstly enjoying the Pancake Parlour’s fluffy pancakes with a multitude of delicious toppings! Which they need to jump-start their minds ready to receive my cascade of ideas for tonight’s session.

🎪 The group focused and chose the theme of the travelling circus.

🤡 They shared their circus experiences and we planned our way in. Thinking out from the self, with their 5-senses.
Externally, the atmospheric impact to be created by the writer of the sandy ground, the smell of the cool, tarpaulin-smelling tent. The rancid odour of sweat, when the clowns come near, their cloying, thick makeup sliding down their faces as they run manically up and down ladders.

😤 The auditory sense being triggered by the sudden juxtaposition of the sharp crack of the whip by the silent, imposing and fierce-faced ring master!

✍️ The ideas flowed forth from the group as they got in the mood to write… we all loved the climax of the spellbinding performances we’d ever seen, of the glittering star of the night, the beautiful and lithe trapeze artist 🧚

🖊️ Each young author developed the theme into their own personal adventure, a murder mystery, a family day out, a sinister game of cat and mouse and the circus on fire.

🥰 Never underestimate the innate power and creativity within the imagination your child possesses.

💎 Friday is my favourite day of the week and this young writers session is the jewel in my diary. I am blessed with my group. They are all awesome. Every week and on totally new themes and vocabulary we rise on each others energy, reach for the stars and throw ourselves into creation ✨

✍️ We have x12 in the Young Writer group, so it’s presently full. We need to keep it small enough to optimise the attention your child each receives.

📚 We have x7 bookclubs too, x4 for children of different age groups. As well as x3 clubs for adults - Non- fiction bookclub, Classic Fiction and Contemporary Fiction Bookclub.

😊 Amazing high for me this morning listening to the only customer I’ve ever met who’s been on The Orient Express!!

♥️ Here he is overwhelmed to see this most gorgeous hardback history book, full of photo plates of this most glorious traditional train…. in my window!

🎫 At £5k a ticket unlikely it’ll ever be me- but my goodness it’s exciting thinking about it.

🚂 Wow having got married they travelled on this jewel of a train from Paris to Venice. Dining and meeting fascinating guests … many who are deeply wealthy and come regularly, others who save up for a lifetime. Detailing the joy seeing the couple who everyday dressed up … the lady with matching satin-slippers to their gowns, jewels as they manifested the glory of yesteryear! Others simply enjoying being immersed in the vision of what is The Orient Express!

🖼️ The staff were wonderful, the accommodation stunning and the train journey offers vistas for every meal… meaning en route Paris to Venice , the train would literally pause at a stunning location to maximise guests dining experience with views.

❤️ What’s not to love if you’re a crazy train lover like me🚂

A Little Boy, A Huge Heart & A Beautiful Tribute to Brody ❤️🐾

Today we want to say the biggest THANK YOU to 7-year-old Buddy. 💙

After his beloved dog Brody suddenly passed away, Buddy wanted to do something special in his memory — something that would help dogs who, like Brody, deserve to know what it feels like to be truly loved. 🐾

Buddy decided to sell goat feed to passers-by, inviting people to feed his goat in return for a donation towards buying new beds and toys for dogs in rescue centres. 🐐❤️

He even set up a GoFundMe for people who wanted to support his fundraiser from afar.

At first, Buddy thought he might raise enough money to buy a few dog beds…

But what happened next has been absolutely incredible. 🥹❤️

Buddy has raised a HUGE amount of money!

And rather than keeping his fundraising for just one rescue, Buddy has decided that he would like to share the money between as many rescue centres and sanctuaries as possible, helping as many dogs as he can. 🐶🐶🐶

Brody was clearly loved beyond measure. ❤️

Buddy’s greatest wish is that every dog gets the chance Brody had — to be loved, adored and cherished by a family of their own.

But until every rescue dog finds that special family, Buddy wants to make sure they are happy, comfortable and cared for. 🐾

What an incredible thing for a 7-year-old to do in the face of such a heartbreaking loss.

Buddy, your kindness, compassion and determination are making a difference to dogs you may never even meet. And somewhere, we hope Brody is looking down with the biggest, proudest smile. 🌈🐾

Thank you, Buddy.
For remembering Brody in the most beautiful way possible.
For thinking of others while you are missing your own best friend.
And for showing us all that even the smallest hands can make a huge difference. ❤️
