☀️ HEAT STROKE CAN TURN SERIOUS FAST ☀️

Swipe through for the latest advice on what to do if you suspect heat stroke in your dog 🐶💦

🌡️ Call ahead to your vets
💧 Start cooling immediately with cool water
🌳 Move them into shade
🚗 Head to the vets ASAP
❌ Avoid wrapping in wet towels — keep water flowing instead

Prevention is always better than cure, especially in this heat 🫶

Take extra care with:
• Flat-faced breeds
• Older dogs
• Puppies
• Overweight dogs
• Thick coated breeds

Our courtyard is open for shady pit stops, paddling pool dips & doggy ice cream if you need somewhere to cool down 🍦💦

🌡🌡🌡 It's going to be HOT HOT HOT this weekend, so if you haven't already taken your dog for a walk by the early part of the morning over the next few days DON'T DO IT!!!!! 🌡🌡🌡

The temperature will be increasing rapidly through the mornings, rising to over 30 degrees by the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday, and this type of heat can cause fatal heatstroke. If you think your pet may be suffering from heatstroke phone your vet IMMEDIATELY - use the emergency line if your surgery has one - and they will give you the best advice on how to cool them rapidly.
🐾 Keep your dogs inside and close curtains to keep the hot air and sunlight out so that you can keep your house as cool as possible - use fans and cooling mats if you have them.
🐾 Encourage your cats to stay in as well if possible
🐾 Make sure any outdoor rabbits or guinea pigs have plenty of shade to escape from the sun - freeze plastic bottles of water to put in their hutches and change them regularly.
🐾 Always make sure there is plenty of fresh cold water available.

In this weather, not taking your dog for a walk won't kill them - taking them just might 😔😔😔

Meet Fred, Winston, Truffy, Opal & Shelby — five very loved Pickles pups, all with their own rescue stories and second chances ✨
Fred came from a Romanian rescue, Winston & Truffy came from Animals in Need, and our two pointer girls were rescued through Apollo’s Angels, a Cyprus Pointer Rescue 🐶💚

This Sunday’s Pickles Run Club will be going FULLY DOGLESS due to the warm weather. 🥵🐾

As much as we all love seeing the wild woofers out adventuring, their safety always comes first and the temperatures are simply too high for safe running.

So this week it’s humans only — think of it as your dogs giving you the day off from being dragged up hills by a four-legged athlete. 😅

🚫 IMPORTANT 🚫
Anyone arriving with a dog will unfortunately not be able to join the session.
No dogs are permitted to be left in vehicles at any time, even with windows open.

We know our Pickles community totally gets why we make these calls — because responsible dog ownership means sometimes choosing rest over miles. 💛

Hydrate, wear sunscreen, complain dramatically about running without your canine engine… and we’ll see you Sunday! ☀️🏃‍♀️

As many of you know, aren’t just our rescue partner…

They’re the rescue that helped bring so many of our own animals into our family. ❤️

Right now, they’re in desperate need of natural treats to support the dogs and cats in their care — and we’d love to rally the Pickles community together to help.

Here’s how it works:

🐶 Spend £10 or more on natural treats to donate to AIN and we’ll give a FREE natural treat too! (For every £10 you spend we will donate a free treat e.g Spend £30 we’ll donate 3 free extras…)

You can:
• Have the free treat for your own pet in store
OR
• Donate the freebie straight to one of the kennel dogs instead 🐾

Because every rescue pet deserves something tasty, enriching and joyful while they wait for their forever home.

As a small family business, we’ll also be donating some of our Pantry Recipe food to help keep bowls topped up — but truthfully, we need your help too.

We wish we could do more on our own, but together? We can make a real difference.

We’ll also have specially made pre-packed donation bags available in store to make donating even easier. 🛍️

💔 We’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue our Italian Buffalo DOGGOD recipe.

Trust us when we say this wasn’t an easy call — it’s been one of our most loved foods.

Firstly, before anyone panics:
🐾 current bags and remaining stock are completely safe to feed
🐾 this decision only affects future production

Due to ongoing outbreaks of Lumpy Skin Disease in parts of Europe, restrictions are being placed on the movement and import of certain bovine ingredients moving forward.

While this does not create a safety risk for dogs, it does impact:
• sourcing consistency
• ingredient reliability
• traceability
• future batch stability

And at Pickles, if we can’t guarantee the same standards in every bowl, we won’t continue a recipe.

Could we have tried to push through? Maybe.
Would it meet the standards we expect for your dogs? No.

So while we’re genuinely gutted to say goodbye to this recipe, we know it’s the right and responsible decision.
