DimBull – The Story

The story goes way back to the late 1990’s when they first worked together at a well-known manufacturer of adhesive tapes. At that time Tony was in charge of sales, and Richard was in charge of production.

To say they didn’t get on that well would be an understatement! They were only focussing on their own agendas, targets, and KPI’s, and had no appetite to understand each other’s challenges.

So when Tony left to set up his first business they both thought that would be the last they ever saw of each other.

Turn the clocks forward some 3 years and Tony walks into a pub in his home town of Olney aptly named ‘The Bull’ and who is stood by the bar…yes, Richard. He had recently moved there after being head hunted for a more senior position, he had no idea he had chosen to move up the road from Tony.

So they had a long chat to catch up on the years since they had last seen each other, and were both pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed each other’s company. So much so they started to meet on a regular basis. They supported each other through their divorces, and became such good friends they decided to start up a business together.

DimBull was born.

Our Mission

We had a discussion to decide our mission and vision, and realised that first of all we needed to differentiate between the two! After many hours of deliberation, and copious amounts of wine (organic, of course, sipped from recycled glasses) we agreed to adhere to a definition once used by Sir John Harvey Jones. ‘The mission is the common goal of every employee and associate of the business, and the vision is the impossible dream of the Board of Directors’!

As we were the Board, we thought that deciding on an ambitious vision, that we both believed in, was actually a great way to ensure that everyone involved in the business took it seriously.

So, the search for our vision began with our first idea, ‘We want to change the world’ not very original we thought, however after hundreds of other ideas were gradually eliminated we kept on coming back to it and we had an epiphany, I asked Richard, “How do you eat an elephant?” he looked at me, laughed and replied, “In very small chunks” And it hit us, that’s how we change the world. We do things ourselves first, then we can help our employees change, then their families, then our customers, then our customers’ families……..and so on. So our mission is, ‘To change the world…bit by bit’

Our Plan

So we are going to source everyday products for the house that are reusable, recycled and/or recyclable, bio degradable, and made from natural ingredients. We will source products for every area of your home, and beyond. So when you buy from us you can feel reassured that you are not just making your life better, you are taking a small step with us to change the world.
