📢PLEASE READ REGARDING DONATIONS 📢
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donates to The Community Chest, and we really do appreciate every good-quality donation that comes through our doors. ❤️
However, due to the huge amount of rubbish we have recently received, we now need to inspect donations before accepting them.
Please do not bring us:
❌ Coat hangers
❌ Stained, dirty or damaged clothing
❌ DVDs – unfortunately, we find that very few people want to buy them, so we end up giving them away
❌ Large baby equipment
❌ Large bulky items that we simply don't have room for
Unfortunately, some of the items we have recently had to dispose of have cost us money to get rid of. That is money which could otherwise be going towards supporting local people, groups and causes.
We also have limited space, and large or unsuitable items can create a hazard for our staff and customers.
We completely understand that people are often just trying to help, and we really do appreciate that. However, please understand that if we have to refuse something, there is a genuine reason for it. We simply cannot afford to take items that we are unable to sell or safely store.
Our volunteers and staff are doing their best, and every bag of unsuitable items means valuable time is spent sorting through things that cannot be sold, rather than getting good-quality stock onto the shop floor.
We would much rather receive fewer donations of good quality than have our volunteers spending hours sorting through rubbish.
