Oswestry Christian Bookshop Mission Statement: To promote the Christian faith through literature, educational resources, and social action

We operate in the market town of Oswestry, Shropshire, on the border of Wales. We opened in 1979, and our business is situated in an attractive 18th Century listed building. Ten years prior to the opening of our shop we ran the business from a Christian bookstall in the local market, and at an agricultural show. The move to the present building was due to the vision of the members of the local evangelical church, to make available on a daily basis access to bibles, books and Christian resources. The vision has grown and seen expansion into many areas, for example working with churches of all denominations, educational establishments, and the general public. Under the umbrella of our charity we also offer office space within our building to the Churches Together in Oswestry (CTOD) Schools Worker. Opportunity to browse and order literature is helped by the serving of refreshments within the retail area of the shop. Our ground floor showroom has a wide variety of books, gifts and resources. The first floor showroom has a comprehensive display of over 1000 second hand Christian books for all ages, including a small Welsh language selection. Don’t only visit our website, please come and have a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the happy atmosphere that so many of our customers mention.

Oswestry Christian Bookshop AGM

Thursday 2nd October at 7.30pm

In the Green Room, Hope Church

09/04/2025

Monday 7th April was a rather special day as two bishops, Bishop Sarah (Shrewsbury) and Bishop Michael (Lichfield), were doing a walk from St.Michael's, Llanyblodwel, via All Sts. Trefonen, to St.Oswald's Church, a total of 7.5 miles. They called in at the bookshop mid-afternoon and learned a little of our history, as well as visiting our upstairs showroom with its copious supply of second hand books. Afterwards, one member of their entourage stayed behind a lttle longer to make a couple of purchases, the others having set off without him!

Once again I've received a message saying that this site will be closed down because someone has complained it doesn't meet Facebook regulations. Last time nothing happened, so I'm thinking this may be a scam. My apologies if I'm proved wrong.

UPDATE: We are still here! It's proved to be yet another scam.

We now have some 2025 calendars in stock, including the fabulous new one by Hannah Dunnett.

We've been receiving messages supposedly from Facebook to say this site is being closed down for some sort of infringement. I believe this to be a hoax or some sort of scam, and have therefore banned and deleted the sender. Long may we continue, dv!
