The Vintage Advantage charity shop will be closed all day on Sunday 13 and Monday 14 September while staff are busy restocking for the autumn/winter season.

If you would like a sneak preview of our fantastic range of autumn/winter stock, you can come along to our Pre-Season Launch Event!

This ticketed event takes place 4pm–6pm on Monday 14 September.

Tickets are £1 each and must be purchased in advance, from Derwen College Garden Centre & Gift Shop, which is open as usual on Sunday and Monday.

The Vintage Advantage clearance sale has started early!

Thanks to the generous donations we have received this summer, we have excess stock to add to our clearance sale.

Come along to The Vintage Advantage each day this week, until 4pm Saturday to get a bag of pre-loved items for £5.

Next week Derwen Marketplace's The Vintage Advantage charity shop is having an end of season clearance sale.

During the sale you will be able to fill a bag (provided by TVA) for just £5.

Come along from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 September to grab a bag of bargains!

While you are here, you can buy your ticket for our pre-season launch event on Monday 14 September, where you can get an exclusive look at our autumn/winter offer.

The Vintage Advantage, Garden Centre & Gift Shop and Walled Garden Cafe at Derwen Marketplace are all open over the bank holiday weekend.

Visit us on Saturday 9am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm, and Monday 10am to 4pm.

Please note, The Orangery Restaurant will be closed Friday 28 August and over the weekend, including Bank Holiday Monday, and will reopen Tuesday 1 September.

The Walled Garden Cafe will also be closing early at 1pm on Friday 28 August, and will reopen Saturday 29 August.

The Garden Centre and The Vintage Advantage remain open from 10am to 4pm.

We apologise for any inconvience caused, and look forward to welcoming you back.

Heart of England in Bloom judges visited Oswestry on a beautiful sunny day at the end of July to see the stunning flower beds, planting and community spirit.

Derwen College Nursery and Production Manager Paul Moss and his right-hand man Anton Berry joined volunteers, sponsors and staff who have worked together to make Oswestry a floral spectacle at the town’s beautiful Cae Glas Park.

Paul, Anton and Derwen College Horticulture students were involved with beautiful displays which bring brightness and joy to local residents and provide food for pollinators.

They were joined by Town Clerk Arren Roberts, Oswestry in Bloom volunteers Natalie Bainbridge and Olly Rose, and town clerk Louise Humphreys to meet with judges.

We were saddened to hear of the death of David J. C. Austin, Chairman of David Austin Roses.

David continued the work of his father, David C. H. Austin, sharing the beauty of David Austin Roses with gardeners across the world.

His legacy will live on in gardens everywhere, bringing colour, fragrance and joy to so many people.

Derwen College is proud to be an official partner and selected retailer of David Austin Roses, with a selection available at Derwen College Garden Centre.

Our thoughts are with David’s family, friends, colleagues, and everyone at David Austin Roses at this sad time.

Staff and students recently visited our All About Me art exhibition.

The art was created by students on Derwen College's Learning for Life Pathway and Nurture Programme.

The theme for this year’s annual exhibition was All About Me. The exhibition showcases how students have used resources that are personal to them, represent their likes and interests, or highlights their individual skills.

Students used a range of adaptive technology to help them make creative choices and bring their ideas to life.

From next week the exhibition will be displayed at Hive Shrewsbury throughout July and August, where we hope you will be able to drop in and see it for yourself.
