It's hot in the greenhouse, and things are really growing! Tomato plants, chillies, strawberries, courgettes, edible flowers and so much more - all being grown for the local larder and for our plant and produce sales on June 6th and June 20th. π
Alongside our weekly Sow & Grow session, we are also now welcoming 40-60 children to the site every week to learn about and participate in the growing cycle with our Horticultural Director. And to everyone's relief, the vents are finally repaired, bringing much needed fresh air through the greenhouses! π¬οΈ
Thanks to a community bed building day, and , we now have both indoor and outdoor raised beds. Thank you to everyone who helped haul wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of compost to fill the beds! We can't wait to welcome you back to see and enjoy the rewards of your hard work. π§Ί
Outside the greenhouse, Plot 4 volunteers continue to meet weekly to grow food for the local larder, and our orchard working group has started netting some trees to protect the fruits, mowing the pathways and mulching. π
We've also had a lovely reminder that we're not the only ones who love it here in the park - slide 10 shows a beautiful bird's nest we found in our shed on Plot 4. π¦
