Letting the kids feel like they have their own space to create and play is amazing and we don't usually insist that their toys need to be put away straight after a game. We decided that the flow between games and the chance to come back and carry on playing with the train track or lego ect. is worth it... but after a while it's needs a tidy!! Only so long my inner Monica can be quiet for!! 🤣 (if you're interested in the "let there be mess" approach, check out _Messy_ by Tim Harford).
The challenge we faced was making it fun you tidy up. And, with 3 kids of different ages, we found it was hard for them to tidy up all together and for it to be fair so I came up with Tidy Up Bingo!! They each have their bingo card and they get to tidy up the items in their pictures. We have found it works so well and they love shouting Bingo at the end and getting a little treat. They have also started to work together helping each other which is best thing to see. This time Erin and Ilian went full on cleaning mode and decided to vacuum the carpets and clean the windows and mirror!
