Remembering Agatha Christie on her birthday

Today marks the birthday of Agatha Christie, one of Britain’s best-loved and most celebrated authors.

Although famous around the world for creating Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, Christie also had a special connection with Wallingford, where she lived for more than 40 years.

That connection remains an important part of our town’s story and continues to bring Agatha Christie fans from across the UK and around the world to Wallingford.

Over 30 sets of human remains stolen during British colonial rule in India and Myanmar are finally going home.

The Naga ancestral skulls and bones had been held at Oxford’s Pitt Rivers Museum for over 100 years. The museum has now announced that the remains will return to their homeland.
