We’ve got some great new suppliers this year, continuing the focus on FairTrade and eco products.

Our shop opening date this year is Saturday 7th November and it’s fast approaching.

We had a bit of a social media break in the last few months. But while we haven’t been posting we have been working, promise.

Some recent summer views from the farm:
1. Combining winter wheat next to the trees in Innings field.
2. The blue of common chicory looking particularly lovely in a herbal ley in Home Close field.

Bird guards, bird guards and nore bird guards.

This year’s growth is just starting to flush and will be vulnerable to bird damage until the growth hardens up in the summer.

These yellow sticks are attached with pegs to the trees to prevent birds landing on the new leaders.

The Tree Barn through the ages. Found some photos of the farm before Christmas trees and in the early years of the tree business (when the barn was a drive-through!).

The beautiful thatched barn that the tree barn replaced was in quite a state of disrepair and had to be replaced to make it a functional farm building. Very sad though to see what was lost.

We were a dairy farm originally and in photo 2 you can see our Jersey herd in what is now the front garden.

January / February jobs aren’t very photogenic - clearing up, tonnes of paperwork, w**d control, cutting down stumps, meetings and going to trade fairs (where we found North Pole chocolate 😱 image 3). So not much posting but promise we have been working full-time.

Also, Greenfield Venison continues to be available all year round and we’ve introduced a NEW sausage flavour: Venison, Pork & Apple. We’ve just had fresh stock delivered so visit thetreebarn.co.uk/venison for pricing and full menu, and contact [email protected] to enquire.

Christmas trees can be recycled a number of ways, but this has to be one of the best we’ve seen.

Lions, wolverines and pallas’s cats at Cotswold Wildlife Park have benefited from some of our Christmas trees donated by St Giles Church in Standlake after their Christmas tree festival. The trees are used as enrichment for the Mammals section at the Park. (Please note, CWP are not accepting any more tree donations.)
