When your local cinema has plum trees… life is just about alright 🍇

Whilst it’s not been great weather for the flowers it’s been a bumper year for these little plummies , took all my might not to snip some and make an arrangement with… plum trees now on the growing list.

Purple has been my favourite colour since I can remember, purple bedroom, purple pencil case, anything that could be purple it would be! But I never wear purple and as an interior designer, it would never creep into any of my designs, and now, I have finally found a love of working with this colour with flowers.

The first time I have any success with amazing grey poppy, and by chance I had a few purple sweet peas flowering this year along with a rogue lilac foxglove, so I couldn’t resist a little play and to capture these gorgeous papery blooms before they fade in the blink of an eye.

What a wild year this has turned out to be so far! Very behind on my camera reel and lots of lovely things to share. Playing catch up first with the most wonderful event I was asked to be a part of flowersonthe.edge I have to say this felt like a highlight of my career in flowers. To be in a room with such talent and to be flowering alongside each one was a little dream of mine come true.
Working with the best seasonal British flowers with a touch of the wild is, to me, what truly sustainable floristry is about. Paired with Flower & Press we created this whimsical tablescape in such dark delicious berry tones. It reminded me of the English summer once the blackberries have ripened in the hedgerows, tangled amongst the wild clematis.

Much thanks to the growers who supplied these beautiful British grown blooms Water Lane .edit Danielle

Next up is Strawberry Hill House in September which I am so so excited about!

Back flowering my all time favourite fireplace at Balcombe Place, this time with sunset tones of late May British flower goodness!

This week is an exciting week where I will be creating a tablescape in collaboration with Izzi from Flower & Press at the Flowers on the Edge fringe event for British Flowers Week. We will be playing with juxtaposing the contemporary and the traditional, with some exceptional June flowering beauties!

A little border we planted in March this year filling out nicely. Foxgloves are one of my favourite flowers and they are bringing me so much joy at the moment. The new roses Desdemona are blooming and the pale pink buds turning white accidentally pair so well with the pinky white geraniums.

Some of the plants we planted are;

Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’
Sesalatis autumnalis
Rose ‘Desdemona’
Euonymus balls
Heuchera
Digitalis alba
Sweet peas
White corncockle
Thyme
Geranium x cantabrigiense ‘St Ola’

A celebration of the season, this late May wedding really captured the essence of the current hot balmy days we are having, warm evenings scented with roses. The most delicate British blooms from many growers across Surrey and Sussex, it’s truly magnificent to know most of these blooms were nurtured by one persons hands, lovingly grown over months and years by the best artisan growers.

A special thank you to our British growers:

Late April beauties, all the froth and gorgeousness of British spring blooms.
Delicious flowers from and narcissi & lilac from my cutting garden ✨🤍

Spring truly is my favourite month, not just because of the delicate blooms, but because of the scent of fresh green growth in the air and the promise of lighter days after a long dark winter here in the UK

April flew by with our little precious girl being born, and in between naps and cuddles, I had to make a little appreciation for the flowers I planted for Lilia’s arrival. At 7 months pregnant on a wet January day, I determinedly planted over 100 Tulip ‘Purissima’ and Narcissus ‘Thalia’ bulbs with the hope they will be blooming for our baby’s arrival. It was if by pure magic, the day we arrived back from hospital, all the flowers had burst into full bloom, along with the frothy white wild cherry behind the house.

This is why I love working with seasonal British blooms, as they truly capture the essence of that very moment in time, and now forever when I see these flowers I will remember the day we first brought our girl home 🤍✨
