It has been a busy few days in the run up to The RHS Badminton Show in Gloucestershire which has now opened to the public. Today we were immersed in the world of scented pelargoniums, working alongside , showcasing her fabulous C.Atherley range. Cath loves scented pellies and has captured some of their amazing fragrances in her new bodycare range which is also available at the nursery.
Next up was a visit to the talented Sarah Davis Glass artisan studio. We created a number of containers for Sarah to complement her beautiful glass creations and the pots were looking great, despite the heat!
Finally, we caught up with Megan Dodd at her showgarden. We grew some annual poppies for Megan whose lovely design was awarded a silver-gilt medal. Congrats Megan!

With soaring temperatures, you may be rethinking your garden to include plants that can cope with long periods of dry weather.

This year the Painswick Rococo Garden team has done just that, replanting the Exedra borders with perennials that, once established, don't demand watering to keep looking good.

We've grown these plants and whilst we don't advocate planting in this particular period of hot weather, you may want to add to your future-proofing list.

🌱 Achillea 'Walther Funcke' - hot orange-red flowers that fade to creamy-yellow as the age.

🌱 Hyloptelephium 'Dark Canyon' - lovely sedum with dusky foliage that trails as it matures.

🌱 Verbena officinalis 'Bampton' - like a wire netting busy with tiny spikes of purplish-pink flowers. Terrific self-seeder if happy in location.

🌱 Penstemon 'Purple Bedder' - vigorous and long flowering with claret-red blooms that have dark purple throats.

There's some old favourites in there too including Stachys byzantina and Silene coronaria Atrosanguinea Group. That pink and silver combination! We just love!

We're on the second day of our pop-up up at Downtown House in Painswick. The garden is open today under the . The walled garden is owned by plant enthusiast and author Jane Kilpatrick who has planted for year-round foliage colour and interest with some rare, historic and unusual plants, some of which we lifted last year and propagated for sale this year, including the vigorous and dramatic Heuchera americana 'Harry Hay', Iberis 'Betty Swainson', Iris 'Mrs Rowe' (so delicate and pretty!) and the eye-catching Helleborus 'Pacific Frost'. The garden is open until 3.30pm.

What fabulous weather! It's really putting us in the mood for our Summer Containers event next Friday, May 8th. If you're looking to bring a little extra flair to your outdoor space this summer, then join nursery owner Julie Dolphin for a workshop exploring how to design and plant up your pots with real impact. There'll be demonstrations of different planting combinations as well as plenty of tips on how to keep them looking good.

We are taking our plants on the road this season. Find us at these wonderful gardens...

🌷 April 18 and 19 - this weekend you'll find us at in Stroud with a pop-up up in the beautiful walled garden which has a terrific display of tulips (images 1, 2 and 3). It's all part of a fair organised by the Gloucestershire Print Cooperative where you can buy original prints and meet the talented artists.

🌷 May 9 - find us at which this year celebrates 50 years of making exceptional handmade flowerpots at its wonderful workshops in Warwickshire. Here, you can see their pots being made, enjoy excellent food from their cafe and be inspired by their pot displays (images 4, 5 and 6).

🌷 May 13 and 14 - we'll be at Downton House in Painswick for it's two-day opening under the National Garden Scheme. The walled garden, in the heart of this historic village, is owned by author and plant enthusiast Jane Kilpatrick. Jane has planted for year-round foliage colour and interest with particular focus on plants that thrive on thin limey soil in a changing climate. The garden features unusual trees, shrubs and peonies associated with owner’s interest in plant introductions from China (images 7, 8 and 9).
