Walking on the King Charles III England Coast Path National Trail (KCIIIECP) north of Bamburgh this weekend. When it's fully linked it will be around 2700 miles so maybe it deserves its long name! Views of both the Northumberland Coast & County (that's the Cheviot in the distance across Budle Bay)

We've been to visit the team Go Tweed Valley in their temporary home on School Brae to collect copies of the new 10 CLASSIC WALK ROUTES booklet with details of walking opportunites in all corners of the valley. You can pick one up from us and gpx files can also be downloaded from their website (link in our bio). It's a great introduction to the area and we're always happy to chat about even more places to walk- the possibilites are endless.

Sorry for the sparse window display just now. After the Beltane flags came down I couldn't face climbing into our furnace of a south-facing shopfront to switch things round. It's a job for next week but meantime we hope you're enjoying the summer planting we've added to complement the boxes by the hard-working folks at Floral Peebles. It's all looking pretty fine, if we do say so ourselves.

Great walking weather in Skye and Wester Ross during our break last week, despite an unpromising forecast. Not too hot and crisp views up and down the coast whether we were in the hills or in search of remote beaches. Scotland, you've just got to get out and about to experience it🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😍

When your activity log looks like the wanderings of the navigationally challenged it might not be that you've had one too many drams....
...it could be that you've had a big tussle with a peat bog.....
...and the only thing that's staggering is the view.

.north.film is described as
"perhaps the ultimate hiking film " (The Guardian) so a screening at our local had to be investigated.
Whether the actors, who really shouldered 20kg+ packs and covered great distances on the West Highland Way & Cape Wrath Trail with the film crew, or Scotland in all its rainy, windy, midgey and sunny moods were the stars of the show is open to debate. Beginning in familiar locations and with the fun of trying to spot outdoor brands we know and sell, the rhythm of faffing with kit, dealing with the weather and covering the miles gradually established. But we were drawn in by the protagonists' responses to the landscape they were moving through and their reasons for being there so that the open-ended conclusion was more emotional than we expected. If you're looking for thrills and spills this might not be the film for you but if you want to see our beautiful country without the social media influencer's filter and with a thoughtful examination of how spending time outdoors impacts the spirit then we'd definitely recommend it.
