ASSiA ASSiA is an African inspired homewares company. ASSiA was originally founded by Fi MacDonald in 2001 as Flickering Foods.

It brings together the very best from a few of East Africa’s finest artisans; empowering women and communities, using recycled materials where possible and always ensuring Fairtrade. Following her move to Kenya in 2005 the theme has transitioned towards what is now a unique range of African home accessories, leading to the change in company name. With a discerning eye for new and exotic textures,

colours and style ASSiA brings together the very best from a few of East Africa’s finest artisans; empowering women and communities, using recycled materials where possible and ALWAYS ensuring Fairtrade. Each item in The Painted Collection is hand crafted and hand painted in the Krafty Artz Nakuru workshops; a team of immensely talented and skilled artists….every single dot on those Guineafowl feathers and birds are individually placed with absolute care and precision. The Sisal Baskets are all woven by an elderly women’s group in Kitui and then hand finished with leather trims and handles in Nairobi. Our gorgeous range of organic creamy Jacaranda Wood is carved by a co-operative of Kamba wood carvers in the Machakos District. In compliance with Kenyan regulations, official licences for tree felling are strictly adhered to. We are very excited about this new chapter as ASSiA and hope that you enjoy our fabulous range of African Inspired Living. Please do share assia.co.uk with your friends and family, and we look forward to seeing new and familiar faces during the coming year as we travel around the UK on the Charity Fair circuit.

We had a glorious first day at Defender Burghley Horse Trials yesterday - showcasing our new collection in their new Lifestyle Pavilion.

The weather looked a bit shaky this morning - but it has turned into a nice, dry afternoon and both Angus and I are excited about a lovely weekend ahead.

Do come and see us if you are coming to the event - and, if not, head over to our website for all the latest goodies!
