FESTIVAL EVENT HIGHLIGHT 🟣

Kimberley Nixon: She Seems Fine to Me

After a lifetime of doing everything 'right' - marrying her childhood sweetheart, building a successful acting career and finally having the baby she'd longed for - Kimberley Nixon found herself in the grip of severe perinatal OCD.

In her jaw-droppingly honest and darkly funny memoir, 'She Seems Fine to Me', the BAFTA award-winning actress shares what it’s like to become a mother while losing your sense of self and being terrified of your own mind. At once devastating and tender, Kim’s story will resonate with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by motherhood, failed by the system or frightened by thoughts they were too ashamed to say out loud. It’s for anyone who has ever been told they looked fine when they were anything but.

Kim will be chatting to Griffin Books events manager Hollie about motherhood and mental health, IVF, her later diagnoses of autism and ADHD, and the enduring cult status of 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging'.

returns this weekend with a new format and a new home, bringing a packed weekend of author talks, family events and poetry to Belle Vue Park Pavilion.

Organised by Griffin Books, Penarth's award-winning independent bookshop, the Festival will take place from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June and once again features a diverse line-up of literary talent, from award-winning writers and journalists to performers and illustrators.

Join author and broadcaster Lucy Owen and illustrator Rebecca Harry for a magical event celebrating their delightful new children's book, 'Forest Girl', a heart-warming tale of nature, friendship and self-discovery.

This interactive session will include an introduction to Forest Girl, readings from Lucy and a live painting by Rebecca herself! You'll also learn about the protected Celtic rainforests of Wales and have the opportunity to put your questions to our author/illustrator duo, before creating your own Forest Girl-inspired ivy bracelet and crowns to take home.
