CALLING ALL ARTISTS AND CRAFTSPEOPLE IN SHAP AND THE SURROUNDING VILLAGES.

‘THE ABOVE EDEN OPEN STUDIOS AND ARTIST TRAIL 2026’ ORGANISERS ARE LOOKING FOR MORE VISUALLY CREATIVES TO JOIN THE TRAIL THIS YEAR. ARE YOU A LOCAL ARTIST WHO WOULD LIKE TO SHOW AND SELL YOUR WORK?

After a very successful first Open Studio event last year we are hoping to include more creative people on the Art Trail and Artists Open Studio Event 2026.

Did you know 15 September is World Afro Day? Here's a throwback (a-froback) to 2022 and our exhibition Hair: Untold Stories.

Hair, like the upcoming Colour: A season of shades, tints and tones was developed collaboratively by the Museum and Galleries Network for Exhibition Touring (MAGNET) of which we are a partner.

As part of the events programme accompanying Colour, we're teaming up with Afrikana CIC for AfroVibe: Colour, Culture & Carnival - carnival-style takeover of the museum on Saturday 4 October. Expect crafts, stalls and plenty of music.

We had a wonderful Above Eden Artist Studio Trail, lots of visitors and plenty of sales and lots of tea and cake!!!👍👍👍
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our first ever Above Eden Art Trail.
We will continue to post new work made by Above Eden artists so please keep following us!

This will definitely be a yearly event so we will be looking for more local artists and craftspeople who want to join the 2026 Art Trail taking place in Shap and Keld and possibly other nearby villages. You can contact us here if you are interested.

Tea and cake and art👍 come and visit our Above Eden Artists Trail and see the buzzing, arty creative villages of Shap and Keld. Today and tomorrow 26/27 th July, 10 -5pm.
Have a nose around part of an old workhouse at Deborah’s creative home at Brackenber Lodge, visit Ben at his newly opened potter studio in the high street, visit Lydia and Tara on the Fells(last house in Keld) and look out at the beautiful views and see beautiful paintings from Suzanne’s studio!
Well worth a visit to these rural artists.

It’s nearly time for our first Open Studio Artists Trail 26/27th July in Shap and Keld, 10 am until 5pm.
The signs are up and you can also get directions from the Old Court House in Shap.
Tea and cakes will be available at three of the venues!
Come and meet the artists and craftspeople who work in this beautiful part of Cumbria.
Ben Walker is launching his pottery Pikku Ceramics, try out throwing on the wheel and make a small pinch pot.

Come along and see Natasha Tavangari and June Hill demonstrate techniques and approaches to their work at the Old Court House in Shap.
