Closed Bank Holiday Mondays A contemporary gift, homeware & accessories shop in the heart of Penzance high street. Reflecting the high quality of creativity in Cornwall with gift ranges and homeware for coastal living and giving. Owners Esme & Alan want to share beautiful & thoughtful ranges created by local Cornish makers & artists. Alongside Fair Trade brands like Ian Snow and Dassie Artisan and eco conscience aware Chickidee and Liga Eco Home. An Elemental Coastal Design Style reflects where we live and captures the essence of West Penwith: tumbling streams, windblown hawthorns, the call of the Chough and warm golden sand. Esme is also a designer-maker jeweller. Sometimes you can catch her at the workbench, creating silver & copper collections. Alan is a renowned player and reed-maker for the Uilleann Pipes (Irish bagpipes) and can be heard scraping cane and testing the reed (sadly no tunes)! We are a Plastic Free Champion and supporter of The Just a Card Campaign. But wet dogs are best kept outside and nervous dogs must be carried. If other customers are afraid of dogs, please respect this and take your dog outside again. Thank you for being considerate.

My September Roundup is here!
It’s always the calm down month, full of ease & “phew, roads are ours again!”
Enjoying the late sunshine and warmth but thinking about socks again!

The shop’s shelves are filled up with best sellers from local makers and fresh new ranges from some of the coolest contemporary UK designers.
And the cosier stuff too- candles & wax melts, cushions & throws.

As I write this, looking back at the stats - September has been bloomin’ marvellous. Feels like it was bit of a boom time for shops up on The Terrace! Hope it continues…but you never know in these volatile times.
“Make hay while the sun shines” I say!

Is it all worth it? The stress & anxiety & over excitement… of course it is!
As I had to work on the shop floor the day this episode 12 of series 19 Money For Nothing aired on BBC 1- I shared the joy with customers on my laptop!

Ohh the things one can get away with when you’re an owner of an independent high street shop- watching a bit of day time TV! 🤣

BBC TV ⭐️The stories we continue together squaretwo furniture Ollie Clueit Sarah Moore Jacqui Joseph about these 2 chairs rescued from landfill and given a new lease of life!
And I’m really really chuffed to bits that these armchairs went to new homes pretty quickly about a year ago, just after filming in Circa 21 ⭐️🙌⭐️

There’s definitely something magical in the air today. I can hear snippets of conversations about where people hope to watch the show of the week:
The Eclipse 🌞 followed by The Pleiades 💫 up there in the skies! We’re gonna take a picnic supper and be where no one else will hopefully be- on a remote ish boulder looking out onto the Atlantic north coast!
And in other exciting news, the next show of the week to watch will be Money For Nothing featuring Sarah Moore LARISSA GREAT-REX and little ole me in the ‘happy ending’ part in series 18 episode 8 ⭐️

Like the cuckoo, July flew fast and before I knew it full on Tourist season hit! Everyone & everything is buzzing around.
By my goodness did me and Al take advantage of the hot summer evenings- swimming with friends after work in quiet spots. Picnics on the rocks and plenty of Irish session playing for free pints with the best of people.

My brain is slightly mushy as I write this on a Sunday morning - before we go into the shop to flatten cardboard boxes in full on heat and clean out the roof gutters from all the seagull detritus 🤢
Ohh the underbelly of a shop keeper’s life!!

August will be hot & hard work- and I do quietly look forward to September, if I’m honest!

You know, it’s funny how the year has panned out. I didn’t quite believe the filming of the Money For Nothing furniture I took part in, would survive the cutting room floor. Let alone be shown on telly, after there was talk the BBC had decided not to commission another series. So here we are, 2 years on and back on the telly for another 20 seconds. Thankyou dear old beeb! You are cheering my year up no end!
And loved choosing a ⚡️ sound track to this carousel!

After 2 years since filming began- our Money For Nothing story is now airing on telly! Blimmin great news!
I can’t wait to call my dad… but I have to hold back that cruel dash of sadness in the heart that comes on when I remember mum is no longer with us on this mortal earth, to share and be excited with me. So it’s extra good to tell you lot! 😍⭐️😍
