So as many of you know my lovely little vintage caravan was sadly trashed last year due to my husband living inside for 9 months. We almost thought at one point that we had lost her completely due to her horrific state. :/

Anyway thanks to my lovely friends helping us out by donating various items we have finally almost finished her with alot of hard work, blood sweat and tears.

Here she is Connie the Vintage Cornish Caravan in our new job role as our office space. 😍

Day 3

Today on the advice of our knowledgeable caravan loving friend Doug we started to dismantle the inside of the caravan by the front window. It's not as rotten as we first thought. Although some of the frame will need replacing and new plywood will have to be put on the top of the frame.

I have a feeling restoring "Connie" will be a long term journey but a forfilling one.

I've also made a start on a latch hook rug which I was kindly given by my FB friend Shirley. It is one of two I have been donated which I am hoping I can make to eventually go on my caravan floor when she is finished. They are meant to take over 100 hours to complete, so will probably take me as long to make as it will to fix up the caravan!

Day 2

Getting there slowly but surely.

I washed down Connie's walls and cupboards with a mould and mildew remover spray today. It was pretty vile but managed to disguise the smell with my lovely new Gingerbread reed diffuser. 😍 ( Which I bought for the house but it has migrated to the caravan 🤣)

We also picked up a fantastic donation of wood rescued from a skip, organised by an employee of a local business. Thank you very much guys it is greatly appreciated.

Day 1

So we've gutted "Connie"...

She is slightly better than I anticipated. I found some pretty horrid and disturbing things whilst clearing her out though. 🤮 Trying my best not to dwell on the past. :/

On a positive note the floor has been washed down with Natural French Soap Flash. Fingers crossed it gets rid of the rancid damp smell.👃

Dear Everyone,

This is a very hard post for me to write.

As you may be aware I have been going through a problematic time with my husband for the majority of the past year. After nearly 25 years of domestic abuse since the age of 15 I finally gathered up the strength to ask him to leave in January. By March he was still here and the impending lockdown due to Covid 19 filled me with dread. Luckily with support from Matt, I managed to persuade him to move into my dear little caravan. Where he remained until last weekend when he finally left. Although it is bittersweet as he has only moved a stones throw away from our house. :/

The sad news is he has done his up most best to destroy "Connie the Caravan" . Luckily she is determined at the grand old age of 42, that she will live on. Sadly alot of her period features such as tables, seating, cupboards have been destroyed. Her walls are a bit dubious in places and the sky light leaks. But she's still standing which is the most important thing. ❤️

We now have the mountainous task of repairing her into a useable state again and securing the area around her and my workshop in order to prevent potential break ins and potential revenge attacks from my husband and his friends.

Unfortunately in our current financial situation we can not afford to do this ourselves with new materials and are resorting to upcycling with what is available.

We need wood to make fencing, chicken wire to secure the area, wood to rebuild and restore the inside of the caravan, and vintage things to make it homely and useable as a work space again.

If you can help us at all in any way we would really appreciate it. As we really need to get our upcycling business up and running again.
