As from today, my needles are packed and I’m taking a few days off. My first proper break since Christmas. So it’ll be lazy mornings and visits to friends & family. Little bit of outdoor maintenance & lots of relaxing. So my posts might be a bit sporadic. But for now it’s a late breakfast and a hot cuppa. See you later.

I couldn’t believe it…I walked into the house to find Charlie the Chimney Sweep doing his yearly soot busting in my living room chimney flue. He’d forgotten his sheets and there were sooty paw prints all over the kitchen and living room floor. The fire surround was covered with soot paw prints too, where he’d rested his paws & my fine China mug was black as was the kettle and worktop. After Gertie, Florie & I had spent all those hours cleaning on Tuesday. He got out his handkerchief to rub some of the soot off places, grinning to hide his embarrassment and just smeared it more. So I helped him collect his brushes and sent him packing. But he returned with a bunch of flowers, mop & bucket and cleaning cloths and helped me clean everywhere so it was clean & sparkling again. How can you stay mad? 🥰

Gertie & Florie have agreed to help me this morning have a good cleaning session. You’d be surprised how much dust gets produced using wool to make the mouses. So the steamer is coming out, we’ll be sweeping, dusting and then having a lovely hot cuppa and ten mins rest before production starts this afternoon. Are I blessed to have help?

All the Mouselits, Cubs, squiglits, hoglits and other young critters will be in school for the first time after a long hot Summer. And the older ones planning to go to college are gearing up to go in a week or two, to start a new adventure away from Woolly Woods. It’s amazing the stillness thru the day in term time. Ahh bliss! I might just get another cuppa and enjoy the peace for a touch longer. 😁

Believe it or not but Woolly Woods mouses are very fit and sporty (unlike me) everyday there’s some activity happening so I thought I’d share a few. The last photo was a proud moment as Woolly Woods won the coveted trophy for sports achievements overall the local woods inhabitants around Cornwall. I’ll just admire the trophy while I stay seated on the sofa 🤣

I’m escaping the Woolly Woods Creation Room today and setting my needles down for a couple of hours, to enjoy some adult, human company over a cuppa with a lovely friend. Of course nothing gets by the mouses here and I’ve just had a Polly asking if she’s dressed okay because apparently she’s coming, and then Marjorie sauntering into the kitchen with coffee in hand, telling me she’s definitely coming as the coffee I serve is frankly disgusting and she needs a posh coffee, a macchiato with soy and an extra shot with caramel. Whatever that is; I’ll stick to my very common cup of tea with milk please 😂😂😂😂

It’s wet in Woolly Woods…yay! The mouses and I love darker skies and wet weather as it’s the perfect time to “get your nose in a book” (available at Gallery 38 St.Ives). Cuddling up on the sofa and losing an hour or two as the story draws you into the pages and your imagination goes wild. Unfortunately, no such fun for me today. But maybe later as I curl up in bed, I’ll get too snuggle with a good book. There’s always pleasure to be found in the dullest of days 😁

We have a mouse who roams Woolly Woods whose the “carrier of wishes” He quietly, often unseen roams listening to conversations and hearing the conversations and prayers of our hopes & wishes. Well one of mine has come to pass today as it’s raining steadily right now. I’ve only witnessed the odd quick shower but it’s so lovely to hear it lash at the windows & already the grass looks greener. Let’s just hope if it continues I won’t be wishing it’ll stop 😆. Hoping you get a wish come true today too.

The school holidays are nearing the end so we had another beach day yesterday. Marzi (short for Marzipan cos his mum and dad love almonds) found a lovely shell and was listening to hear the ocean roar, and getting very excited with how loud & clear it was. He didn’t understand as I shook my head cos he was standing with his back as the waves washed on the shore . Silly mouse. Then Pip, whose a little older went snorkelling in the shallows and found herself a 10p coin, which is going into her piggy bank. So a good day was had by all. My job today….getting rid of all the sand in the car and all over the bathroom. 😂

Isn’t it funny that after this beautiful summer bringing heatwave after heatwave, killing off the grass, the hedgerows and making the trees look like it’s autumn the thing most prolific flower in Woolly Woods are Erigeron the pink & white daisy like plants that appear from nowhere. So the mouses have decided to have a Erigeron Day (also known apparently as Fleabane but the mice didn’t like that name even though the plant is know to get rid of fleas) so we’re dressing up in daisy chains or I should say Erigeron chains or like Daisy in her little pretty outfit to celebrate how nature always triumphs in difficult circumstances. A lesson I guess we can all use.
