Momma mouse Nutmeg was having so much fun with baby Clover in the bath. She loved these times when Clover giggled, squeaked in delight as she splashed the water & tried to suck the soap bubbles. But she ends up wetter than Clover so we’ve gone to the knit & stitch circle again and they’re going to get old plastic bags and knit rugs so the water doesn’t soak the floor and they’re going to produce a waterproof apron for Nutmeg that will still be soft and warm for Clover to cuddle momma when she gets out the tub. How ingenious, hope it works.

The footie lovers are watching the World Cup on a big screen set up on the Green (mice don’t tend to have televisions), it’s been a bit hit and miss with winds and rain, so I’ve created a little hopefully indestructible waterproof marquee, so they can watch with the sides up if it’s dry & nice or with sides attached to stop them getting wet. The WWI (Woolly Woods institute) are preparing refreshments in advanced while the games are on so that while the match plays all of us who hate football come to mine & we have our own get togethers. Think today we’re going to have cheesy popcorn & a good chick flick ….Stuart Little was suggested to a group of swooning lady mice but I think we can do better than that. Any suggestions? Wonder if there’s a mouse like Aidan Turner playing Ross Poldark?? 😛

In Woolly Woods, the stitch circle met under the fern fronds, as it was beautiful outside & too nice to be indoors. Miss Thistle was knitting a pair of woolly gloves—soft as dandelion fluff—for her nephew. But yesterday afternoon, as they chatted, a gust of wind whisked one glove away!

The mice paused their work. “Don’t fret,” said Mrs. Clover. “We’ll stitch a plan.”

They threaded fine spider silk, tied it to a shiny berry, and cast it like a tiny net. Down by the stream, they found the glove caught on a bramble. Quickly, they mended its frayed edge together.

By dusk, the gloves were done—and the circle agreed: some things turn out even better when you stitch them as friends. 🧶🐭

Can I promote our new shop in Woolly Woods….”Frida’s Florist” for all your flowers, bouquets, pot plants etc. Frida grows her own flowers 💐 and has done for years and had them in buckets outside her cottage. But Bushytails Builders run by the fox community offered Frida a deal on a new shop she couldn’t resist. She moved in yesterday so the doors are open. I’m off to treat myself to a bunch.

Oh no! We’ve got an outbreak of Man mouse flu in Woolly Woods. I’m thinking about wearing garlic around my neck to ward off the bugs 😆. All I hear coming from mouse houses is coughs, sneezles, and a lot of sighing and complaining. Funny it’s only the male mice in bed or lounging on the sofas. 🙄. So a few of us are going to spend the morning making a huge batch of chicken broth, while the ladies from knit and natter cut up old sheets for hankersniffs, and one of my toilet rolls for tissues. And I’ll also give a lot of love to the poor lady mouses who also don’t feel great but they’ve only got a slight cold. 😂
Hoping your feeling fighting fit today.

I found Mickey in the most awkward of poses a few minutes ago. “Are you exercising Mickey?” I asked “nope, looking for something” came the reply. “Can I help you find it, what are we looking for?” I asked again. “The sunshine” he said.
“You won’t find the sun down there, or between your legs” I laughed “the sun is in the sky”.
“Yes, I thought so too, but I’ve been looking up for ages and I can’t find it, I only find rain drops that hit my nose and wind that make my ears wiggle, so I thought it might have fallen down, so I’m looking low now”. Silly Mickey but I guess there’s a bit of mouse logic in there somewhere. Hold onto your hats if you’re in West Cornwall it’s a bit breezy.

There’s something lovely about having a pet you can go walking with, it gets you exercising, and meeting different people, breathing in the fresh air Rupert & Sidney are regular walkers around Woolly Woods. Onyx, Rupert’s wife won’t have Sidney in the house for obvious reasons, who wants to sit on a slimy sofa, or slip on a slimy floor. So after walkies, Sidney gets put in his palatial enclosure in the back garden, with as many leaves, rotten wood & mushrooms to munch on & safe from the birds, he’s definitely fallen on his foot. 😆

Archibald Octavious Foxworth, joined Woolly Woods in April after deciding he’d like a life in Cornwall rather than the upper class area of the Cotswolds where he was born and raised near Chipping Campden. Yesterday, he knocked on my door to say he was off again as he was tired of the unpredictable weather. One minute he was sweltering, next freezing with dripping fur after being caught in a rain shower. He’s going to hitch to Southampton or Folkestone to either slip aboard a cruise liner or get a lift to France & make his way to Spain. And so sadly we say farewell and wish Archibald safe travels. 🥲 There were a few mice who’d have like to join him I think, but I’m happy exactly where I am.

We’ve now got geese in Woolly Woods, Meg is responsible for feeding the geese, chickens & ducks. Bruce the goose is the biggest, with a neck that stretches just a little too far and an appetite that stretches even further. Every morning, Meg Mouse carefully prepare breakfast: sweet grains, fresh greens, and the occasional slice of nice bread, arranged neatly on her little wooden tray. She always calls out, “Wait just a moment! I’m bringing it!” As Bruce the Goose didn’t want to wait until the chickens got fed.

“Bruce! I haven’t finished yet! Wait your turn. Meg squeaked, clutching the bread from the tray.

The goose simply blinked his round eye, let out a loud, honking HONK!, and leaned further in. With one quick dart, he snatched a whole slice of bread right out of Meg’s paws.

Meg sighed, shaking her head. “I see patience isn’t on the menu today.”

Bruce just gave a happy wiggle, ate his fill, and waddled away—proud, full, and absolutely certain that the best meals are the ones you don’t have to wait for. Good job I wasn’t feeding him I’d have had my hands around his neck telling him if he did that again he’d be off to the butchers. 🫢

Maisy was having 🫤😵‍💫 day on Saturday. None of us could cheer her up. So A group of her friends ordered on Woolly Woods Home delivery service GoudaGo (like Uber eats) a very large lump of cheese to hopefully put a smile on her face. The cheese didn’t do much, but Oakley the handsome delivery driver, definitely did. I bet the poor chap didn’t get away without agreeing to a date. At least Maisy that got her smiling again. 🤭
