An artwork that was part of a series came in for a frame repair. It had fallen or been dropped, splitting the wood, breaking the glass and opening the mitre on one of the corners. It was then stored somewhere a little damp, as foxing had started to appear on the mount and glass.
I managed to remove the v nails from the broken corner. Glued, clamped and filled it before rejoining, then sanding. Repeating the filling a couple of times to get the appropriate finish. I cut a new mount, barrier and backing board with glass. Then hinged the art and sealed the package with conservation tape.
The frame was painted with farrow and ball strong white and given a coat of renaissance wax. Backing sealed with moisture resistant tape, finished with d rings and soft steel wire.
