Perth Festival of Yarn was born by happy accident. We were supposed to gather for a one-off occasion and only had 10 weeks to plan and deliver our event. Being completely honest we, like many others in such circumstances, got caught up in the fast flowing wave and perhaps didn't give as much thought to our initial identity as we should have, calling ourselves after where we planned to come together because it was the most simple solution. Although those choices have served us well, they no longer tell the real story of who we are.
We knew from the very start – back in 2016 - that what we had was extremely special and I'm sure you will agree that we've come a long way together since then. Behind the scenes there have been many times of worry, tears, and sleepless nights. We've battled on through a pandemic, flooding, and personal struggles that haven't been shared on social media. We've consistently done our absolute best to deliver you experiences and memories through it all..... and we're still here.
Perth has always prided itself on being Scotland's Contemporary Yarn and Fibre Festival and is respected as one of the top global international yarn festivals. 2023 feels like the right time to truly own that title and, with the importance of Hogmanay to Scots both at home and overseas, we are stepping into the New Year with a new name, and with the resolution to continue to deliver to you the warmest of welcomes to our inspiring events.
