Smart home technology is shifting from control to anticipation.

AI is increasingly built into these systems, meaning homes no longer just respond to input, they start predicting it. Lighting, temperature, blinds and entertainment adjusting automatically, based on learned routines and preferences.

It's a genuinely capable technology. It also raises a fair question for anyone specifying or living with it: how much should a home actually know about its occupants?

There isn't a single right answer here, and that's rather the point. The best systems aren't built around what technology can do, they're built around how someone actually wants to live, whether that's full anticipation or staying firmly in control.

This letter genuinely made our week 💌

As part of our support for Little Miracles Charity, Rob and the team installed a projector and screen at their Head Office, connected to a new Apple TV so the children can watch their favourite films or play games on the Nintendo Switch.

It means families whose child uses a wheelchair or has challenging behaviour can now enjoy proper cinema nights in a safe, familiar space, something that can otherwise feel completely out of reach.

Alex, Rob and the team recently installed equipment for their chosen charity Little Miracles, and we wanted this post to be about them, not us.

Little Miracles Charity supports local families with children who have additional needs, disabilities or life-limiting conditions, offering everything from activities and counselling to advice and safe spaces where families can relax and be themselves.

It's an incredible charity doing quiet, important work every single day, and they rely on people like us, and you, to keep going.

One of our favourite parts of the Hertfordshire home project!

This basement family cinema room is part of a full centralised lighting and audiovisual system running throughout the house, with one touch activation of music and lighting in every room.

We worked with Lutron Electronics to bring intelligent lighting throughout the home, and with Control4, the family can now control lighting and music with total simplicity.

The client summed it up perfectly: We want a home that allows our family to benefit from all the technology available but in a simple and discreet way, and allows us to entertain our friends with that WOW factor.

We'd say mission accomplished.👏
