The Oundle Bookshop

The Oundle Bookshop The Oundle Bookshop is an independent bookshop offering a range of fiction and non-fiction titles as well as greetings cards and gifts.

Originally opened in 1923 as the Oundle School Bookshop, The Oundle Bookshop has always been at the heart of this famous public school town, serving both “town and gown” for nearly 100 years. Acquired in 2010 by Colemans, it was well known for its traditional and “Real Bookshop” feel situated in a beautiful Georgian building at 13 Market Place, Oundle. It continues to offer a variety of books from

; Gardening to Travel, Children’s books to local information and maps, and if the book you are searching for isn’t in stock, it can be ordered for you and if available will arrive the next day, where it can be held for collection or sent out for delivery by our own local van fleet. The Oundle Bookshop works proudly to maintain its status as a local business in Oundle and respecting its time-honoured history as a traditional bookshop. The Oundle Bookshop hosts regular special events, including book signings for local authors and open evenings for new book launches. It also works closely with the Oundle Festival of Literature which holds monthly literary events in the town.

Spent the morning at and got the chance to explore and pick some amazing bookish merchandise and treats for Oundle readers when we open our green doors.

What’s your favourite non-book bookish item?

A book and a candle, a book and a tote, a book and some stickers, or a book and a lovely bookmark (an old favourite)?

Thanks to Louise and her team for showing me their wonderful workshop of delights.

Every great story has a few surprises.

Our hoarding is up, the refurbishment is underway, and the spoilers are safely tucked away behind the scenes.

For now, we're keeping the next chapter under wraps—but not for long.

We'll turn the page together when Oundle Bookshop reopens in September.

Until then... no peeking.

Every good story has a pause between chapters...

Oundle Bookshop is resting while a new story begins.

The books are safely in storage, the blinds are drawn, and behind them a transformation is quietly taking place.

For now, the next chapter remains unwritten—at least to everyone but us.

No spoilers until September.

Until then, thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to welcome you back when it’s time to turn the page. 📚✨

Thank you 🤙📚💚

We’re so grateful for the warm welcome you’ve given us since reopening.

It’s been such a pleasure meeting so many of you, chatting about books, hearing your recommendations, and sharing your excitement for what’s to come. Every kind word, visit, and purchase has meant more than you know.

Thank you for supporting our little bookshop and helping us feel so at home again.

We can’t wait to see what the months and years ahead will bring, and we’re so glad you’re part of the journey.

The books have officially left the building! 📦📚

After a lot of lifting, packing, and probably a little bit of nostalgia, every book is safely boxed up and the shop is ready for its summer makeover.

It’s exciting, it’s a bit surreal, and we already miss seeing the shelves full—but we can’t wait to throw open the doors again in September and welcome everyone back to a beautifully refreshed Oundle Bookshop.

See you in September for the next chapter! ✨📖

We’ll keep posting to let you know how we’re getting on

Thanks for a great first week.
