Authors with connections to Oundle are always welcome, and Saturday morning, we’ll have the thrilling Joe Thomas in for a book signing and a chat as the final part of his UK trilogy ‘True Blue’ is worth celebrating.

Pop along and browse his impressive back catalogue of eight critically acclaimed novels. He’s also a really nice fella with lots of Oundle stories to tell.

A beautiful way to stay in touch in a digital world with old fashioned analogue pen and paper.

The Oundle Bookshop is now Letter Keeper - we hold letters from lovely readers around the world and await their penpals to come and browse the basket of intro letters in the shop and start the conversation.

If you’re interested, simply write an introductory letter to the address above, or pop into the bookshop and browse for yourself.

Either way, let’s make the world a little friendlier and more bookish with this wonderful project.

Sometimes it can feel as though the world is tilting towards chaos: political shocks, economic instability, technological upheaval and a constant stream of bad news. Faced with so much uncertainty, many of us default to a sense of impending doom. But is that reaction hardwired – or can we train ourselves to keep a more open mind?
Hannah Critchlow, a neuroscientist at the University of Cambridge, UK, offers many reasons to be optimistic, however. In her new book The 21st Century Brain she describes how we can all cultivate the mental flexibility that will be necessary to navigate the challenges ahead.
Hannah was recognised as a 'Top 100 UK Scientist' by the UK Science Council in 2014 and named as one of Cambridge University's most 'inspirational and successful women in science' for her work in science communication.
