Spent the day on the Roker Pie Shop sign today and got plenty done, firstly started by scraping the loose paint in which I discovered this font below and it was really talking to me and showing me how it wanted to be restored so I scraped all the top layer off and sanded then had a discussion with the customer we decided to go with that one. I then painted around the letters in white in preparation for painting the letters red, but after seeing the results and the aged look and patina on the lettering another discussion was had and we agreed to leave the lettering with the original patina.

Do you think this is the right idea ?

Still a lot to do but excited to see it done

So here is the latest project to enter the workshop. Anyone Sunderland AFC supporters of a certain age that attended Roker Park will remember this place well, getting a pie from the Roker Pie Shop an absolute staple on match days. I now have the privilege of working on this piece of history that an insane amount of Sunderland fans have walked under before a match full of hope and now I’m recommissioning it in my workshop😊, it’s going to be tough as I’m going to have to hand paint the letters just like the original creator and replace missing trim pieces, but I am looking forward to the challenge.

On Saturday at VW Festival spoke to a lovely bloke from Holland called Raymon, he had driven his immaculate mk1 VW polo from Holland the 560 miles to the show at Harewood house in Leeds 😳, after creating a slate coaster with a photo image of his stunning little polo he was so happy with it he wanted me to create 10 slate coasters for a club he is involved with Polo treffen Holland.

They turned out great and he was very happy with them explaining he couldn’t get anything like that over in Holland, again it blows my mind something I’ve created it’s going to end up finding a home in Holland.

I know Raymon is spending a bit of time in the uk with friends for a week and then travelling the 560 miles home, safe travels buddy and hopefully we will see you again 👍

Well that’s a wrap for us at VW Festival 2026 and what a fantastic weekend it was, loved every minute of it and you all kept me and my laser engraver very busy for the weekend 🤣, thank you all for your continued support of my small business, it really is amazing 🤩.

So now I will be back in the workshop making and creating ready for Dubs In t'Dales in September and I hope to see you there.
