Incident Report: The 4:30 am Encounter
Location: The misty void
Time: 4:30 am
Mission: Lunar eclipse viewing
Discovery: A remarkably polite extraterrestrial
We pulled up in the campervan, coffee brewing, expecting a cosmic display. Instead, we got a wall of fog and a blinding beam of light cutting through the field.
Sitting right in the center of the glow was him, a silhouette straight out of a Sci-Fi movie, sitting alone on a bench.
Naturally, I was a bit dubious about approaching. Armed with an aerosol can and my absolute best, highly untrained ninja moves at the ready, I crept through the damp grass in a low "don't test me" stance, ready to deploy a tactical burst of hairspray.
I tiptoed up, poised for battle: "Uh... morning?"
He turned around. No laser eyes, no intergalactic threats—just a genuinely nice, highly intelligent guy also sitting in the mist, waiting for a moon that never showed.
I slowly stood down from my ninja stance, put away my chemical weapon, and we ended up having a brilliant chat. No eclipse, no alien invasion, just great conversation, hot campervan coffee, and a 4.30 am story for the ages.
