Even though it has recently become a popular alternative to materials such as plastic, bamboo has actually been used as a product material for thousands of years.

As far back as 5,000 years ago, the Ancient Chinese used bamboo in the construction of live-in treehouses and many of the books, clothes, weapons and instruments that played a part in the development of China as a country were also made from this renewable material.
