We’ve been having a move around in the gallery and bringing together pieces from different local artists and makers into little collections designed around the people you might be buying for.

Someone who loves the sea? We’ve got you. A garden lover? Easy. New home? Something under £20? Or perhaps you’re supposedly buying for someone else but spot a little something for yourself… we can help with that too. 😏

And because almost everything is handmade in small quantities, these displays will keep changing as pieces sell and new things arrive.

99 days until Christmas 🎄

But what if Christmas preparation didn’t have to feel rushed?
What if, instead, you started now. A couple of hours at a time, making something beautiful, enjoying the process and slowly getting ready for Christmas along the way.

Today was the first of our Handmade Christmas sessions, with an afternoon spent block printing gift wrap and tags ready to tuck away until December.

Next month, we’ll be making Christmas cards, followed by decorations in November and handmade crackers in December.

I think we might be working too much…

George woke up this morning and told me he’d had a dream about Sage and Salt Studio.

Apparently, in his dream, ALL the businesses in Petersfield were open ALL NIGHT.

Including us, obviously. Because apparently our current opening hours aren’t enough!

But it gets better.

We were running some sort of “design your own QR code” competition. George was cutting out metal squares for people to decorate, they were all in a tote bag hanging in the middle of the gallery, and customers would come in and buy one.

Once you’d designed it, you could scan the QR code…
…but you had absolutely NO IDEA which website it was going to take you to. It could be anything.

So I think we’ve reached the point where Sage and Salt Studio has officially infiltrated George’s subconscious.

Even in his sleep I’m apparently coming up with new events and giving him jobs to do.

Maybe we need a day off. 😂

NEW ARTIST OF THE WEEK - Lisa Stevenson Journey through clay

Our window has had another transformation, and this week we’re welcoming ceramicist Lisa Stevenson as our Artist of the Week.
Lisa works with white stoneware and porcelain, creating functional, decorative and sculptural pieces that explore change, connection and the way our experiences shape us.
For Lisa, working with clay is a chance to slow down, listen and be patient. Her work is influenced by her own experiences of grief and the idea that, just like clay, we can be shaped and changed by what happens to us.
Look closely and you’ll find carved lines, textures, softened colours and pieces designed to sit, nestle and belong together. These details aren’t simply decorative. They represent moments of change, connection and the marks that life leaves behind.
There’s something beautifully calm and tactile about Lisa’s work, and photographs really don’t capture all of those little surface details.

Some new things have landed in The Craft Pantry… including the first little hint of autumn! 🍂🎃

Today I’ve been adding some new crafts to our recipe book, including this rather lovely decoupage pumpkin. It’s a chunky 15cm pumpkin which you can completely transform using beautiful patterned napkins and decoupage. I have a feeling we’re going to see some VERY different pumpkins coming out of the studio over the next few weeks!

We’ve also added lots more choices for our little crafters aged under 6, including mini treasure chests, unicorn mirrors, wildlife wind chimes, fairy doors and wooden rockets. These are £4 each or any 3 for £10, so they can choose one or settle in for a proper little crafting session.

Some of these have actually been hiding in The Craft Pantry for a couple of weeks already because, as usual, I’ve been much better at adding new things than I have been at telling you about them. 😂

And while I’m talking about The Craft Pantry, I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came and crafted with us over the summer. ❤️ We’ve had such a brilliant summer upstairs, with families, friends, children, grown-ups, regulars and lots of people discovering The Craft Pantry for the first time. I’ve absolutely loved seeing what you’ve all made.

And this is just the start of our seasonal additions. I’ve got more autumn crafts planned over the coming weeks, followed by plenty of festive ones as we head towards Christmas. 🍂🎄

We know so many of you come to Sage and Salt Studio when you’re looking for a gift that feels a little bit special, so we’ve expanded our card collection too!

Every card we stock is artist-made, with designs from some of our wonderful local artists alongside a small selection from other independent UK artists we’ve fallen in love with.

Birthday, thank you, congratulations, new baby, wedding, just because… or the card that’s so lovely you buy it with absolutely no idea who you’re going to give it to. 😂
