💀 ❤️‍🔥 19th Century Tibetan Torgam Cabinet ❤️‍🔥 💀

This original polychrome Tibetan Torgam Cabinet is an extremely 🌟 RARE FIND 🌟 These were found in the homes of wealthy Tibetan families and monasteries.

The cabinet features two skulls, disembodied with the eyes, tongues and heart falling from them. The jewels beneath the skulls are “The Seven Jewel Insignia Of The Chakravartin” (universal monarch).

In Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, skull imagery serves as a reminder of impermanence and the transcendence of the ego rather than mortality alone.

Dimensions : W96 x D44 x H123cm
Price : £3,750

Available on our website.

Our Directors visited China in March this year and handpicked everything that you see here. Our team will be unpacking, photographing and uploading all items to our website over the next few weeks.

🎨 The Beauty of Hand Painting 🎨

If you are on our mailing list, you will have received an email today of our new ✨ educational series ✨ This edition focussing on 🎨 The Beauty of Hand Painting 🎨

These Qajar Style Polychrome Bikaner Doors (£3,950) show off the deep reds and yellows that come from ground natural minerals and earth pigments. Nothing ever synthetic.

Beth, our fine artist, has already retouched some of the details and now you can watch as she uses coloured lacquer to build layers to create the same pigments. Listen as Richard, our Head of Restoration, explains the process we use.

The artwork is now restored to its former glory and many pieces like this are available on our website now.

🌊 Japanese Nagamochi Kuruma Chest, 17th Century 🌊

Crafted from Japanese cryptomeria (sugi). Traditionally used for storing clothing, valuables and household possessions, Nagamochi chests were designed for both practicality and security.

Gently restored in our Wiltshire workshop; this chest is ready for display or use in your home. Its bold ironwork, warm cryptomeria grain and cleverly concealed storage make it equally appealing as a collector’s piece or as a distinctive coffee table, blanket chest or statement storage piece.

£2,150
Dimensions: W81 x D58 x H58 cms

We have chests from a range of periods including Edo & Meiji Periods.

Our restoration team have recently finished working on a Japanese Nagamochi Kuruma Chest (17th Century) which can be seen in the final photo sitting a top a sneaky Korean cabinet which is hiding amongst the Tansu!

Made of Cryptomeria with a working padlock and secret draw 👀
