Where to Look & When: Plymouth's 95% Partial Solar Eclipse

The 2026 solar eclipse is taking place on 12th August, the most significant solar event visible from the UK since the total eclipse of 1999.

In Plymouth, we'll be able to experience a deep partial eclipse, with the Moon covering 95% of the sun.

⏰ Key Timings

The eclipse occurs during the early evening, so the Sun will be relatively low on the western horizon.

🌖 Begins: ~6:15pm
🌒 Peak (Max Coverage): ~7:12pm to 7:15pm
☀ Ends: ~8:06pm

NOTE: Watch your eyes! 👀 At no point during this eclipse is it safe to look directly at the Sun! There are only two safe ways either with specialist eclipse viewers or indirect options. See comments 👇 for some options on how to do this.
