• Turf that has been laid within the last 28 days
• Newly bought plants for the first 14 days after purchase
• Food crops grown at home or at a private allotment, where using a watering can is impractical
• An irrigation system that drips or trickles, equipped with a time and pressure-reducing valve, delivering water directly to the soil
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗳:
• You are on our Priority Services Register and unable to make reasonable adjustments due to a health condition or disability
• You are a Blue Badge holder
• You need to protect human health and safety
• You need the water for animal welfare, including pets, livestock and fish
𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀:
• Watering is most effective during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening
• If you have a water butt, make the most of it, or think about acquiring one to begin collecting rainwater now
• While established plants can be watered from above, it’s best to hydrate young plants from the soil underneath. Water directly onto the soil surrounding the plant, ensuring that the moisture reaches where it is most needed
• Stay on top of weeding so that your plants receive all the water, rather than the weeds
• Involve the kids by letting them help with their very own watering can
