Wow… what a summer it’s been! ☀️💗

I’ve been super busy both socially AND work-wise, and next week I’m heading off on a little family holiday ✈️🌴 —

so my appointment availability is now VERY limited!

I have just these few slots remaining before I disappear for a little while:

✨ Friday 21st – evening appointments
✨ Monday 24th – 4.30–6pm
✨ Tuesday 25th – 12–1pm
✨ Thursday 27th – 12–1pm

And then… that’s it until Friday 4th September! 😱

I always try my absolute best to squeeze you all in wherever I can, but honestly, I’m now working at my absolute limits 🙈💗

Ever looked in the mirror and thought...
"Where did THAT little red spot come from?!" 😳

You might have a cherry angioma — and they're incredibly common!

🍒 So, what actually is a cherry angioma?

A cherry angioma (also known as a Campbell de Morgan spot) is a small collection of tiny blood vessels close to the surface of the skin.

They usually appear as: ❤️ Bright red or cherry-red spots ❤️ Smooth and slightly raised ❤️ Anything from pinhead-sized to a few millimetres

And the reassuring bit?
✨ They're benign (non-cancerous) ✨ They're not contagious ✨ They're incredibly common, particularly as we get older

Why do they appear?

We don't always know exactly why, but factors can include:
🧬 Genetics — they can run in families
🎂 Age — they're more common as we get older
☀️ Sun exposure may play a part
🩸 Natural changes in the tiny blood vessels within our skin

You'll commonly find them on the chest, back, shoulders, neck, arms and legs — although they can appear almost anywhere.

🤔 Why would someone want one removed?

Usually because they simply don't like the look of them!
But they can also: 👚 Catch on clothing or jewellery 🪒 Bleed if knocked or shaved over 😣 Become irritated 💕 Affect your confidence

✨ Can cherry angiomas be removed?

Yes — suitable cherry angiomas can be treated using Short Wave Diathermy.
A tiny electrical current is used to precisely cauterise the blood vessel, allowing the blemish to heal naturally.

🤎 SEBORRHEIC KERATOSIS... THE BLEMISH THAT OFTEN GETS MISTAKEN FOR A MOLE! 🤎

Have you ever noticed a brown, waxy-looking patch that seems to have appeared out of nowhere? It can look a little like it's been "stuck on" the skin...

Chances are it could be a seborrheic keratosis (SK).

💡 What is it?

Seborrheic keratoses are very common, benign (non-cancerous) skin growths. They can vary in colour from light tan to dark brown or even black and may be flat, raised, smooth or rough.

Despite how they look...

✅ They are not contagious ✅ They are not caused by poor hygiene ✅ They are not skin cancer

Why do they appear? ✨ They become more common as we age. ✨ Genetics can play a role. ✨ Sun exposure may contribute over time. ✨ They're simply one of those common skin changes many of us develop.

You'll often find them on the: ✔ Face ✔ Chest ✔ Back ✔ Shoulders ✔ Neck

Although harmless, they can become: • Irritated by clothing or jewellery • Itchy • Catch when shaving • Something that affects your confidence

⚠️ When should you get one checked?

If a lesion is new, changing, bleeding, painful, or you're unsure what it is, it's always best to have it assessed by your GP or a dermatologist before considering cosmetic removal.

✨ Can they be removed?

Yes! I remove seborrheic keratoses using Short Wave Diathermy – a quick, precise treatment that gently removes the lesion with minimal downtime.

🤎 MOLES... WHEN SHOULD YOU PAY ATTENTION? 🤎

Moles are incredibly common - in fact, most adults have between 10 and 40 moles on their body! While the vast majority are completely harmless, it's important to know what to look out for.

💡 What is a mole?

A mole is a collection of pigment-producing cells (melanocytes). They can be: • Flat or raised • Brown, black or skin coloured • Smooth or slightly bumpy • Present from birth or develop over time
Many moles are simply part of who we are!

Why do we get them?

☀️ Sun exposure 🧬 Genetics 👶 Hormonal changes (puberty & pregnancy) 🎂 Age
Most moles remain unchanged for years.

🚩 When should you get a mole checked?

Remember the ABCDE rule:
🔹 A – Asymmetry (one half doesn't match the other) 🔹 B – Border is irregular or blurred 🔹 C – Colour changes or multiple colours 🔹 D – Diameter larger than 6mm (although smaller moles can still be concerning) 🔹 E – Evolving – changing in size, shape, colour, itching or bleeding
If you notice any of these changes, it's important to see your GP or a dermatologist before considering cosmetic removal.

✨ Can I remove moles?

YES– but only after they've been assessed as benign (non-cancerous). Your safety always comes first.

At CaitlynJade Cosmetics I can remove suitable benign moles using Short Wave Diathermy once appropriate medical assessment has confirmed they're safe to treat.

💚 As a registered nurse, I'd much rather tell someone they need a medical review than remove something that shouldn't be treated cosmetically.
