Let's talk about sustainability.......
We recently acquired a unique selection of Burmese Teak boards and beams which were cargo on the SS Athenia, sunk by a German U-Boat in the Irish Sea in 1917.
The cargo lay on the sea bed until it was salvaged in the 1980’s and most of it was used to completely rebuild the beautiful sailing yacht Aello, launched in Hamburg in 1921, which now sails in the Mediterranean.
The remainder we still have in storage providing a unique opportunity to acquire beautiful, large pieces of reclaimed teak with a fascinating back story that can be put to multiple uses.
The boards range in length from 2.2 to 4.5 meters, width is generally 50 to 55 centimeters and thickness between 3 and 6 centimeters. Beams are up to 4.4 meters, width 15 centimeters, and thickness 8.5 centimeters.
