Back Seam & Outside Legs...

The pattern I use is Ben from FFF, printed at 130%.

This video is in no way endorsed by FFF, it is simply me showing my clients and those researching for a Memory Bear Maker some of the processes I use.

Pins and clips are used on the back seam to ensure the fabric doesn't move when sewn. Cutting the pieces to match stripes, plaids etc is a detail I will always do when possible.

As you can see I have also used the pocket from the dressing gown on one of the back pieces, again a detail I will always add where possible.

Sewing Arms...

The pattern I use is Ben from FFF. This video is not endorsed by FFF it is purley me showing my clients some of the work that I do whilst making their bears.
Other makers may work differently and other patterns will require a different construction.

All seams on my bears are sewn at least twice. If the fabric requires it they are sewn more 👌

Here are the 3 Baby Weighted Keepsake Bears, ready for construction 👌

Getting to this stage involves....

🧸Deconstructing clothes.
🧸Planning which of the 23 pieces of each bear will be used on which part of what garment.
🧸Tracing pattern pieces onto high quality cotton woven interfacing.
🧸Rough cutting interfacing pieces.
🧸Ironing interfacing pieces onto specific area of garment.
🧸Rough cutting garment around interfacing piece.
🧸Preparing each piece with stay-stitching, sewing popper and button openings closed, sewing down collars or cuffs, repostioning or strengthening pockets, zig zag stitching cut edges of knitted garments to make sure they don't run, and any other prep that needs to be done to ensure all pieces are as secure as they can be.
🧸Heat press each piece to ensure interfacing is fully adhered and to 'lock' all prep stitching.
🧸Precise cut each piece.

All of this is done for every bear I make before the actual construction can begin!

When there is text on the front to be included but the baby vest is too small for the pattern piece...

☆ I UNPICK the seam rather than cut it. There are a few more millimeters for me to use in that seam allowance 👌
☆ I add another piece of fabric under the front neckline. Securing it by sewing over the original neck stitching.

These little things are the attentions to detail that I strive to keep unnoticeable.
You won't know I've done it unless I tell you, but if I didn't do it you'd notice the difference 👌

I'm currently turning these 3 collections of baby clothes into 3 Birth Weighted Keepsake Bears ❤️❤️❤️

There's going to be colour, characters, images, text, badges, poppers, pockets, buttons, flowers and even a lunch box/bag has been used 🤔

Each of these bears is now planned, interfaced, pieces prepped and ready for construction 👌

***These 3 bears are all for the same client. I NEVER have more than 1 client's order out at the same time***

A few days ago this gorgeous bear was given as a 1st Birthday present from my client to her nephew.

As it was also a surprise for her sister she had managed to get only a few items of her nephews clothes for me to use. However, I think he looks gorgeous in these subtle tones 🥰
Some cream fleece from my stock was chosen to extend the usable fabric and compliment the garments.

He was to be weighted to her nephews birth weight of 6lb 12oz, include his name and reference to his 1st Birthday.
I wrote the little verse added to the foot.
