Look what we found in Bath! 😍
Art Deco Cloud chair circa 1935
The 1930s was a decade obsessed with speed, flight, and the promise of future.
The cloud design-defined by scalloped, stepped, and sweeping rounded back- was a direct aesthetic response to this-moving away from heavy, rigid Victorian furniture of previous generations, introducing soft, aerodynamic 'streamline' curves meant to mimic the fluid shapes of clouds, luxury motorcars, and early airplanes.
Designed by the Epstein brothers, Harry and Lou, who set up a shop in East London, they took the French Art Deco movement and gave it a distinctively British spin.
The cocktail hour-designed for modern and fashionable British homes. Made from burl walnut, maple or sycamore.
