Issie’s Sweeties is officially a finalist for Best Favours at the National Wedding Industry Awards of Northern Ireland 2026 💍✨ Wedding Help

I’m so pleased to see this part of the business recognised, especially when I think back to making my very first wedding favours in 2020.

Since then, I’ve had the chance to create personalised sweets for so many weddings, hen parties and special events, and I’m really proud of how much that side of Issie’s has grown 💕

100 DAYS TO GO 🎄🍬

Christmas is genuinely my favourite time of year… but as a small business owner, it’s also one of the most exciting and stressful 😂

Christmas markets, stock, packaging, products, website updates, content… all while trying to predict what everyone is going to want months in advance 👀

Meanwhile my mum has already been playing Christmas music for the past 3 weeks, so apparently we’re fully in Christmas mode already 😂🎶

This year you can expect the return of Elf on the Shelf, Christmas Candyland and our cheeky Grinchmas Collection 💚🍭

From my very first wedding favours in 2020… to being nominated for Best Favours in 2026 🥹💍🍬

These little blue and white sweet cones were the first wedding favours I ever made, for Alana & Jonny and I love that they’re still customers of Issie’s all these years later. 🥹💕

Since then, wedding and event favours have become such a special part of the business.

From personalised sweet bags and table favours to hen party treats and larger event orders, I absolutely love creating something that fits in with each couple’s colours, theme and day.

I’m also really proud to be a Gold Member of Wedding Help, and of course this week came the news that Issie’s Sweeties has been nominated for Best Favours 2026 🏆

A very full-circle moment considering where it all started.

Issie’s Sweeties has been nominated for BEST FAVOURS at the National Wedding Industry Awards of Northern Ireland 2026! 💍✨

And I genuinely have no idea who nominated me, so whoever you are… THANK YOU. 🥹

I’ve made so many personalised sweet favours over the years and there’s something really special about knowing that the little bags, labels and sweet treats I’m putting together are going to be part of someone’s wedding day.

So to be nominated in the Best Favours category really does mean a lot. 💕

Possibly a controversial one… 👀

Over the years I’ve gifted products, collaborated with creators and supplied sweets for different opportunities and I’m genuinely not against doing that.

Some have been fantastic for Issie’s Sweeties. Others haven’t resulted in anything, and that’s part of taking the chance.

But lately I’ve been thinking about the expectation that small businesses should provide products for free in exchange for potential exposure.

Because although that product might be free to the person receiving it, it isn’t free for the business providing it.

I’ve paid for the stock, packaging, labels and everything else that goes into making it. Then there’s my time and the profit I’ve given up.

And in the current climate, small businesses are feeling those costs more than ever.

What I’d LOVE to see more of is businesses with the means to do so putting a little budget aside and saying:

“We love what this small business does. Let’s actually buy from them for our event.”

It might only be a relatively small order to you.

To that business, it could mean far more.

And yes, exposure can be incredibly valuable. One person sharing your product could introduce your business to thousands of potential customers.

But exposure isn’t guaranteed and unfortunately it doesn’t pay today’s bills.

So if a small business politely says they can’t gift their products but would still love to work with you on a paid basis, please don’t automatically write them off.

Their product didn’t suddenly become less valuable because it wasn’t free. 🤍

I’m interested to hear both sides of this one…

A thoughtful gift doesn’t have to mean spending hours searching for the “perfect” thing. 💕

Here’s how I make it personal at Issie’s Sweeties:

🍬 Choose their favourite mix you know they’ll love
💌 Add a personal message just for them
🎀 I put everything together, package it up and make it feel like an actual gift
📦 Then it can be sent straight to them ready for that little “someone thought of me” moment.

Because sometimes it’s not about how much you spend.

It’s knowing someone picked something with you in mind. 🥹💗

And yes… I probably get far too invested in making every box look just right. 😂
