Introducing David!
As a visual artist working primarily in acrylics, oil and mixed media, my journey has been shaped by a deep connection to emotive states, memory, and nostalgia. I've been exhibiting in South Wales for several years, using art as a tool for mental health, community building and self-expression.
Joining Kindred Arts CIC as a director felt like a natural next step because I share their passion for making art accessible to everyone and fostering social cohesion. My background as a school governor and an educator for additional learning needs, combined with project management experience, allows me to bring practical leadership to our community projects.
We aim to provide affordable spaces and opportunities, breaking down barriers to traditional art networks. I'm particularly excited to facilitate collaborative projects, like the Porthcawl hoardings regeneration, art workshops for all ages and abilities, and help establish an affordable studio and gallery space to showcase our local talent.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am an advocate for Q***r representation. In addition to that, I am a proud parent and deeply passionate about sharing my creative practice with our community, especially making it accessible for children with neurodiversity.
