Premier 2000 snare drum from 1970s 🥁
Premier, Britains most well known drum company, have made some superb drums in their time. This is definitely one of them!
The 2000 model snare drum was introduced in the mid-late 1960s, originally sold with a chrome over brass (COB) shell. There are not a lot of COB 2000s in circulation today, as they changed to chrome over aluminium (COA) shells soon after.
Premier took the parallel strainer design from their earlier Royal Ace snare drums and improved on it, introducing their ‘Flobeam’ system, allowing for the snare wires to run the entire width of the drums, pre-tensioned before they are against the head. This allows for precise, consistent adjustment of the snare wires, and a very sensitive and crisp response.
This exact drum is from the 1970s and has a COA shell, and has had a full platinum service, and the Flobeam system is working smoothly.
