Fresh herbs, grown locally, right here in store.
We are still receiving supplies from our very own store garden and we could not be more pleased about it. There is simply no comparison when it comes to freshness and flavour, and knowing they have been grown just around the corner makes them taste even better.

A huge thank you as always to our wonderful volunteers who make it all possible.

Another wonderful walk to add to your list!

If the weather is kind this weekend, why not set off from the Old St Mary's Church at the far end of the village and make your way up to the summit of Furzedown Hill. The route rewards you with lovely, sweeping vistas across the rolling downs before looping back to your starting point. A beautiful way to spend a few hours in the valley.

And of course, we are right on your way. Pop into the store before you set off and pick up a picnic or some refreshments to enjoy along the route. We have everything you need!

Did you spot these in store over the summer?

Meet the yellow wax bean! Often called the gentler cousin of the green bean, these beautiful little things bring a gorgeous pop of colour and a sweet, tender crunch to any meal. Steam them, toss them with a little butter and garlic, or enjoy them raw in a cold summer salad. However you eat them, they are a real treat.

And the best bit? These were grown right here by our very own store volunteers. So fresh, so unusual and as local as it gets.

Keep an eye out for more seasonal surprises from the garden throughout the year!

What a wonderful afternoon!
Fun on the Field: Back to School last Friday was everything we hoped it would be. The weather was kind to us, the field was full and the atmosphere was just brilliant.

The incredible Pizzaarti, Bon+Rose and Rascals brought all the magic as ever, with delicious wood-fired pizzas, gorgeous gelato and an epic inflatable assault course that kept everyone entertained from start to finish. There was plenty of catching up after the summer break and a real sense of celebration at surviving the first week back at school.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special evening. And an equally big thank you to our brilliant store staff and volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. We could not do it without you.

We already cannot wait for the next one!

At our summer party in August we held our annual awards to recognise a few of the people and moments that have made this year at Candover Valley Store so memorable.
Congratulations to:
* Tim, for his weekly dedication sorting out the stockroom and turning chaos into order. Tim is moving to Devon soon, so a big thank you and best of luck with the move.
* Louise and Gill, for keeping their cool when a customer arrived to post a box of bees.
* Suzanne, for the most memorable post office moment of the year, helping post a wedding dress to Jersey the day before the wedding.
* Garry, for everything he has done to make the store the success it is today.

And of course, every single person who volunteers, works or helps out at the store is a winner in our book.

Are you ready for this?
Our inflatable assault course is coming to Fun on the Field: Back to School and it looks absolutely brilliant. Make sure this Friday 4 September is in your diary because this one is not to be missed.

Join us from 3pm to 7pm at Candover Valley Store for an afternoon of fun, food and good company. There will be wood-fired pizzas from Pizzaarti, farm-made artisan gelato from Bon+Rose and the store will be open late for snacks and drinks throughout.

Free entry, everyone welcome. No need to book, just come along!

The grass may have turned a little golden in the summer sun but the field is looking beautiful and we cannot wait to see it full of life again very soon!

Plenty of shade under our canopy and the surrounding trees means Fun on the Field: Back to School is going to be a wonderful afternoon whatever the weather. We are counting down the days to seeing children and families making the most of it on Friday 4 September.

If you have not already got the date in your diary, now is the time. 3pm to 7pm, free entry, everyone welcome.

Have you spotted our brand new freezer?

Fully stocked and looking absolutely magnificent, we think it might be our best yet. Here is what you will find inside:
On the left, our fabulous selection from Chapmans Seafoods, including the ever popular deluxe haddock and cod fish fingers that have already become a firm local favourite. On the right, a delicious range of frozen prepared meals from Fieldgoods, made with the very best ingredients for those evenings when you want something special without the effort. And not forgetting some brilliant Crosta and Mollica pizzas for good measure.

Something for everyone and all of it worth a look.

What a night! In August we brought our whole team of staff and volunteers together for our summer party. A chance to say a proper thank you to everyone who keeps Candover Valley Store running week in and week out.
