Save Me Said The Button

SAVE ME Said the Button is a collection of haberdashery inspired art, using vintage fabrics, lace, buttons and bobbins to add texture and interest to pictures and other pretty things. Mixing the vintage with the modern, I design and paint, machine and hand stitch and carefully construct my creations. I try to use mostly hoarded and rescued items and I’m still making use of buttons from my mother

and grandmothers button boxes! I also trawl the internet, antique and vintage fairs to add to my huge collection. If I find something beautiful and old I sometimes design around the item, my little fabric stitched boat pictures incorporate some lovely 19th century bobbins I bought at a car boot sale. My designs do follow themes, but all are individual, I can’t replicate them exactly due to the vintage nature of the embellishments. That means that when you purchase one of my creations, its completely unique to you! I want to trade ethically and to save on our carbon footprint. My wooden shapes are made in Kirkham, Lancashire and my frames are from Huddersfield in Yorkshire. Wherever possible I will endeavor to make sure my items are genuinely made from UK supplies, although I will purchase vintage and antique buttons from Czechoslovakia and Italy for their unique craftsmanship and beauty, and also lovely antique Belgian and French lace.
