All good things must come to an end…✨
It’s been an amazing 7 years filled with lots of highs and lows, but as of 5pm yesterday, Kado is now officially shut.
I want to send one final, massive thank you to everyone who has stepped through our doors, shared a chat, and bought lovely gifts over the years. We truly had the best customers, and your support—especially over these last few bittersweet weeks—is something I will cherish forever.
From the day I took over Kado to the bustling final hours of our 70% off sale, this little shop has been a labor of love. I couldn’t have made it this far without our incredible customers.
Though our doors are now closed for good, the memories, the laughs, and the wonderful connections we made will stay with me always.

We are officially down to our last two days, and we wanted to start by saying thank you. Your lovely messages and incredible support over the last few weeks have meant the world to us as we prepare to say goodbye.

It’s been a bittersweet month, but as we approach our final chapter, we wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you. Since we announced our closure four weeks ago, we have been absolutely overwhelmed by your kindness. Every person who has walked through our doors has shared such supportive words and lovely memories—it has truly made these last few weeks special.

However, we can now announce that our very last day of trading will be *Saturday 16th May 2026*

To help us clear our shelves and give you one last chance to grab something special, we are increasing our discount for the final two weeks to 50% OFF EVERYTHING!

Come by, say hello, and snag a final bargain before we lock up for the last time. We’d love to see you to say goodbye!

As we move closer to closing, we want to clear as much stock as possible and ensure our items find a place in your homes. To help us do that, we are upping our shop-wide discount to 35% off everything, effective from 10am, Tuesday ( tomorrow). It’s a bittersweet time for us, but we’d love for you to stop by, and make the most of these savings while our doors are still open.

I am so very sorry to announce that Kado Gifts will be closing, permanently.

Kado has been on your high street for 26 years - the last 7 of which I have had the absolute pleasure of owning. I took the lease over from the previous owner with 7 years left, and those 7 years come to an end this summer. After much thought, many conversations and lots of number crunching, the reality of the current climate has become impossible to ignore and closing the shop was the only viable option. Foot fall continues to decline month on month in the high street, but the overheads keep increasing. From rent and business rates, to electricity and water as well as national insurance and minimum wage, the numbers simply no longer add up for a small, independent business like mine.

I am so proud of what has been achieved and I thank all the staff that have worked alongside me for that. I am sorry to the lovely community of Risborough - your support over the years has meant the world to me and I know you will miss Kado.

As I begin the process of winding down , I want to make sure our remaining stock finds a good home. So starting tomorrow, at 10am, there will be 20% off anything and everything in store. I would love to see you, so please pop in and grab yourself a bargain! Any existing gift vouchers will of course be honoured, but the loyalty scheme has now been stopped. As of now, a final closing has not been decided, however, as soon as I know I will let you know!
