Nikon has hardly left my side this week; she seems to know when I'm unwell. Despite all efforts, I tested positive for COVID on Monday after feeling poorly Sunday afternoon. Symptoms have been different this time around, compared to when I had the virus in January. This strain has knocked me for six: fatigue, nausea, headache, loss of appetite, loss of concentration, pain in my fingers, legs and arms, sneezing, coughing, blocked nose. In January, it started with all three of us having toothache and then constant sneezing. I spent isolation binge watching Ben Affleck movies, but as my eyes also hurt with this variant, I struggled to watch anything. Both times though, I haven't lost my sense of taste and smell. Just want to feel better now!

This week is mental health awareness week and the theme is loneliness. As well as encouraging students to write positive and happy words, quotes and phrases, I knitted a sample 'trauma teddy' where it's mostly made in one piece and then sewn together with no attachments that could come loose or hazardous to the recipient. They are designed to being comfort to both children and older people and are small enough to fit in a pocket or bag for those moments when a hug is needed!

Have a great weekend!

I've been making origami paper roses today for a May Day display in the library. I discovere the roses hold their shape far better if they're made out of cardstock than paper. Discovered this after making several paper ones.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and Bank Holiday whatever you're up to!

A bookshop with a difference! Here, you will find embroidered, handcrafted literary gifts, learning resources for teachers and parents of young children; EAL support; face-to-face workshops and consultancies; postcard exchanges and more. Illustrations are mixed media: an eclectic mix of fabrics, threads, yarn, torn papers, altered text, chopped words, photography and digital art which together form poetic verse, wall art, books and keepsakes.

If you’re looking to hire an illustrator, email [email protected] to discuss rates

Collaborative projects are welcome. Again, email to discuss.
