“Our scholars have mentioned, “However, heedlessness of death, an aversion from remembering it, scarcely thinking about it and failure to act in preparation for it is worse than death itself, and in that is a lesson for those who reflect and a thought for those who ponder”.

Having sabr in Islam begins with a gentle trust in Allah’s wisdom and a calm heart that remembers Him in every moment. It means slowing down when life feels heavy, turning to dua instead of despair, and believing that every difficulty carries hidden mercy. Ṣabr grows when we remind ourselves that Allah sees our struggles, counts our silent efforts, and never wastes our tears. By holding our tongues from complaint, our hearts from bitterness, and our actions from wrongdoing, we allow faith to soften our pain. With prayer, gratitude, and hope in Allah’s promise, ṣabr becomes not a burden, but a beautiful act of love and closeness to Him.

Salaam alaykum,

Firstly, I want to begin by remembering Allah ﷻ — the Most Merciful, the Most Loving — and to ask Him for guidance, comfort, and strength for myself, for each of you reading this, and for our beautiful Ummah.

This message is a gentle reminder, especially for those who may be struggling silently.

Islam is my strength. It is the key to my heart and the very purpose of why we are here. My faith has been my anchor, particularly in the moments when life has felt overwhelming and unbearably heavy.

This past year has held many dark moments for me. Living with BPD and trying to navigate everyday life has been incredibly challenging. In the quiet hours of the night, I often find myself wondering how many others are carrying similar pain — how many are battling their mental health in silence, just as I am.

Mental health is a vast and deeply serious issue. It is an epidemic, and for many, it is life-threatening. In your most difficult moments, it is okay to feel lost. What matters is trying, even in the smallest ways, to reconnect with your faith. Sometimes that looks like reading just one verse a day, or making one small duʿāʾ. Hold on to Islam with everything you have, because without it, the darkness can feel all-consuming.

This year has been the hardest of my life. After years of depression and anxiety since my teenage years, being diagnosed with BPD at the age of 27 felt like another deep wound added to an already painful journey. It has been traumatic, exhausting, and humbling.

During this period, I stepped away from selling Islamic books, and I sincerely apologise to those I was helping gain access to them. Please know that my heart remains in this work. I am always here to help you find the right book or resources that may benefit your soul, and I will do my best to support you in any way I can.

To my sisters especially — I am here for you. Whether you need someone to listen, a friend to lean on, or an ally to stand beside you, you are not alone. 🤍

May Allah ease our pain, strengthen our hearts, and never allow us to feel abandoned in our struggles. Ameen❤️
