I had a few friends around for food and drink and chat last night. It was fun. Today the dishwasher took one look at the cleaning job on hand and immediately broke down. Bank holiday weekend, yay!!
So, I did the washing up the old fashioned way. Replaced the yucky yellow sponge scrubbers with some of our new Compostable Dish Sponges.
First, take a look at the yellow sponge. All those bits of green plastic went down the plughole and either end up spread on fields, in rivers, or even back in your tap water. They last, essentially, for ever. The remains will end up in landfill. There are billions of these used every year.
The compostable one is sturdy. Maybe a little too stiff for cutlery, glasses, etc. but great for pots, pans, frying pans, crockery and other large items. Great for shifting stubborn marks. Made of cellulose and loofah. Both plant based materials. Once done with they go into the compost ready to feed the garden.
