We have been made aware of a video that has been circulated this weekend of several individuals from our Patreon list purchasing sealed One Piece product from the store.
The fact that the shrink wrap was not removed was a staff error at the till - the customers were engaging in rapid-fire questions, distracting the person carrying out the transaction. One Piece remains a fairly new product to be sold over the counter, this is the first instance of us selling full boxes, and the habit of removing the shrink wrap is not yet ingrained in staff the way it is with Pokemon products.
Since one of the customers has self-identified as 'a scalper', and they have filmed individuals without their knowledge or permission inside a space where there should be an expectation of privacy, we have taken the following actions:
We have banned those customers from the store and from the Patreon, and will no longer be selling them any products.
Both One Piece and Patreon are new initiatives for the store, and there will no doubt continue to be problems as we discover the ways that people will try to abuse the system. In this instance, we take responsibility for failing to take off the shrink wrap, and will act to remove the scalper from further access to product from eclectic games.
As a result of this action, there will be two spaces opening up on the One Piece tier of our Patreon. As we've had many requests to be added, we'll do this via a lottery via this form and will pick on Thursday, 3rd at 6pm.
