It's been a long process, but the restoration of the Coca Cola machine is finally complete.
Cavalier CS 72, year of manufacture, 1957 - 1959.
Holds 72 bottles.
The restoration has been to a very high standard with as many of the original parts used as possible, including the evaporation unit and every original fixing, painstakingly cleaned and re-used.
Cabinet sand blasted and professionally painted.
Internal cabinet powder coated and new insulation.
Bottle rack dis-assembled and re-galvanised.
New compressor and condenser.
New glass in bottle door.
New graphics.
Coca Cola logo hand painted by professional sign writer.
Coin mechanism cleaned and tested. Takes 10 cents coin.
Discrete free vend micro switch installed utilising bent coin release k**b.
Brightworks re-chromed or replaced where necessary.
This has had hundreds of hours spent on it. A detailed photo history of the restoration is available.
Fully restored examples of this model are currently being sold in the UK for £14,000. Link available on request.
Probably not important to many people, but I have preserved some of the used bottle tops showing a unique history of its usage.
The beauty of these machines is that the shelves are adjustable allowing not only Coke bottles, but a variety of different bottles including b**r and other soft drinks.
Apart from being an iconic piece of Americana, these machines are increasing in value year on year, due to their rarity.
