Now that the darker nights are drawing in, we've got some safety tips for you to share with family and friends:

๐Ÿ’ก Leave a light on in more than one room, such as the lounge and bedroom.
๐Ÿก Make sure your front door is well lit and fully visible from the street, also think about security lighting and the rear and side of your property.
๐ŸŒณ Keep shrubbery and hedges at the front pruned to below 1 meter to remove cover for a burglar to work unseen and allow visibility by neighbours.
๐Ÿ“น Consider having a good quality CCTV system installed.
๐ŸชŸ Keep your curtains closed at night - if you're away, ask a friend/family to close them for you.
๐Ÿ”‘ Don't leave valuable items or car keys on view near your front door - โ—If you have a keyless car, pop to one of our community engagements and ask us about FREE faraday pouches, or purchase one online.
๐Ÿ“ท Photograph your property and register is FREE of charge here: https://orlo.uk/z7Een

โ—REMEMBER - If you're not in, don't let everyone know!

Our patrols today in Ripley..... ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

We've popped into the singing group at Ripley this afternoon and engaged with people who wouldn't normally get to see us out and about - we discussed issues in the area like parking, how to keep belongings safe when shopping and what the role of the Safer Neighbourhood Team is.

After engaging with some of our partner agencies and speaking with members of the public in the town, we then headed down to Greenwich Community Centre where we engaged with the children who attend there, including some newcomers this evening.

We enjoyed a game of Uno, which opened up conversations and positive engagements with the children.

We have no issues to report in the town this evening.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Ripley Patrols Today....

Today, we have been into Waingroves Woodlands after some reports of anti-social behaviour and pleased to say that we did not come across this but our patrols will continue.

We have been into some businesses and engaged with staff and customers and spoken about shop thefts - Our visible patrols in shops help deter this.

We've also engaged with some children in the Market Place and walked around Crossley Park after some reports of anti-social behaviour.

Pleased to say we have nothing to report tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

Remember, we will be at the Blend Youth Hub tomorrow at Greenwich Community Centre, 5 - 7pm.

| Drink driver sent to court after vehicle stop in Ripley

At around 1600Hrs on Saturday 22nd August 2026, we received a report of a possible drink driver in the Ripley area. Officers from Amber Valley Local Policing Unit and Amber Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team were quickly dispatched to hunt for the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped a short time later and the driver was arrested following a failed roadside breath test.

In custody the male provided an evidential sample of 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, nearly three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

A 36-year-old male has been charged to court for Driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit.

PC LAMBERT from Amber Valley SNT said โ€œChoosing to get behind the wheel of a car after consuming that amount of alcohol is reckless. I would repeat our advice that if you are going to have a drink that you simply do not drive until you are sure that the alcohol has cleared your system.
We will continue to take robust action against anyone who puts others at risk in this way."

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผ Safer Neighbourhood Team - Do you know what our role is? ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The Safer Neighbourhood Team here at Ripley and the surrounding areas are made up of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Police Sergeants and a Neighbourhood Investigation Officer.

Our role as SNT is to work within a specific area, (we cover Ripley, Codnor and Waingroves) and our priorities are preventing crime, tackling anti-social behaviour and building long-term solutions to local safety concerns.

Unlike our amazing response officer's who handle immediate 999 emergencies, SNT focus on proactive, community-focused policing within a specific area.

What are our core responsibilities?

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Tackling anti-social behaviour - We address local issues like nuisance behaviour, environmental damage and low-level disorder. We work with partner agencies and use community protection powers.
๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐ŸฝCommunity Engagement - We hold regular local meetings, listening to resident concerns and tailoring policing priorities alongside community panels. We also analyse data and collaborate with our partner agencies to come up with solutions to problems.
๐Ÿšธ School Engagements - We go into schools and provide education from an early age. In return, we have already seen lots of the children during the Summer holidays who remember us from visiting school
๐Ÿ” Intelligence and Crime Prevention - We gather local intelligence, conducting high-visibility patrols and help run preventative schemes like Shop Watch.
๐Ÿซ‚ Safeguarding Vulnerable People - We identify and support vulnerable individuals and repeat offenders to reduce crime and prevent victimisation.

This is just some of what the Safer Neighbourhood Team are involved with in the local community.

While you may see us holding our local events which enable residents in the area to come and see us face to face, we have our response officers working hard, attending 999 emergencies.

If you'd like to know more about what we do or would like to let us know about any issues in your area, please come along to one of our regular engagements and speak to us.
