**NEWS**
Some of you may know that I’ve recently starting working for the Pentrich Brewing Company which is providing me with a regular income (ever conscious of the pension!)..

For now, through the summer, I won’t be taking on any repair or servicing jobs in the workshop unless they are urgent and I can make time to complete them. I have quite a lot of informal jobs that I can address as and when. As the autumn approaches I will open the workshop again as work at the Taphouse is likely to slow down.

Please note, H&S Brass Repairs is not closing down, just striking a balance. Thank you for your support and understanding.

As part of every full service I carry out a compression test on all valves, slides and solder joints on the instrument. These are the top 3 valves of a well-known Chinese-made BBb bass/ tuba..

This is the worst engineering I’ve ever seen in the part of an instrument that requires the most precision.

These issues will be fixed BUT from a tech’s perspective, if you’re buying instruments like these on a budget, take out the valves and check the quality of craftsmanship on these parts otherwise it could be a costly error in an all-too-early time of its life.
