Sometimes the rooms you were never invited into are the ones you were meant to walk into anyway.
I had the privilege of doing my first ever corporate calligraphy for the Enterprise Vision Awards afternoon tea at the House of Lords in Westminster 2 weeks ago today. I was also asked to create a bespoke piece for their keynote speaker Theo Paphitis, which felt like a real milestone in my work.
To then be invited as a guest for the afternoon tea itself felt surreal. My only previous memory of Westminster was as a tourist taking photos of Big Ben.
On the outside it looks like a highlight moment, and in many ways it was. But I have realised I do not always find it easy to receive moments like this fully. My perfectionism and people pleasing can make it hard to pause and feel proud.
So this is me practising that.
I am so grateful to the EVAs Team, especially Lizzie and Coral for the opportunity, and to the incredible women (and some men) speaking on the day and the amazing women I met across the afternoon.
If you struggle to acknowledge your own wins, I see you. You are allowed to stop, take it in, and be proud of what you are building.
Never did I think my work as a calligraphy artist offering bespoke and corporate calligraphy would take me into the Houses of Parliament, yet here we are.
