A new proposal being discussed in the UK could significantly change the future of fishkeeping.

This proposal centres on a ‘positive list’ system, in which only a limited number of approved species would be allowed to be kept, sold, or traded. While the intention is to improve animal welfare, there are growing concerns within the industry about the potential unintended consequences.

Industry experts, including the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association (OATA), warn that this approach could:

• Restrict fishkeeping to a very small number of species
• Exclude many commonly kept fish simply due to a lack of available data, rather than any proven risk
• Create more welfare issues, rather than solving them

At present, there is no clear evidence that a positive list system would improve animal welfare outcomes.

This is an important moment for fishkeepers, hobbyists, and businesses to have their voices heard.

Happy Easter to all our customers and your fish alike! We’re closed today but don’t worry we will be attending to feed and check on the fish. Open again as normal tomorrow, see you then!

Something BIG has arrived, after months of waiting our feed the fish pond has arrived! It’s 4m Long x 1.5m wide x 1.2m Tall and has a 2.4m Long Infinity Window. We’re very excited for this! The building team will be coming back to install it soon! Thanks to the amazing staff for their invaluable help getting it inside our shop. Also thanks to all my amazing management team from the other stores and our resident strong man .lxo2 💪 for helping us get it into position. We can’t wait to get the filter matured and get some fish in it!

We had another Tropical fish delivery in this week and our first pond fish have arrived to start maturing our pond system too! All the fish are currently settling prior to going on sale soon! We’ve already put in another order for next week! We hope to be stocked up over the coming weeks 😍 watch this space for updates and stocklists!
